So this week, I have been visited by two Colleagues from the College Of Policing. We spent several hours with myself, firstly giving a presentation on the LEAD, (Local Environmental Awareness on Dogs), Initiative. Then I was asked numerous questions about LEAD, why, when, who, what, how......which were all answered. All with the purpose of submitting LEAD forward on to the CoP Website as 'Smarter Practice.' One of the Officers even declared that when they returned to their force, Dyfed-Powys. That they will be pushing for LEAD to be implemented across their area. #LEAD

Turtle Creek | This is a story about the long-term, piece-by-piece restoration of Turtle Creek in north-central Pennsylvania. It’s also a story about the power of partnerships, innovation, the environmental stewardship of landowners, and the resiliency of natural systems. It’s a success story suggesting broader opportunities for Pennsylvania’s waters, and for the Chesapeake Bay. https://lnkd.in/ety4KVFi

#ThrowbackThursday to Dickenson v. Nev. Dep't of Wildlife The State of Nevada accused Dickenson of breaking a contractual agreement and requested a court order against him. The district court sided with the State, but Dickenson appealed, claiming the State's interpretation of the contract was wrong. The Nevada Supreme Court agreed with Dickenson and reversed the decision. The Nevada Supreme Court held that: (1) if a contract is ambiguous and cannot be interpreted without additional evidence, only then can the court consider anything outside the contract, but (2) if the contract is clear, the court must rely on the plain meaning of the words. Finally, (3) every part of the contract is assumed to be important to the parties' intent, and therefore must be considered when interpreting the contract -- one section can modify the meaning of another section. In other words, every contract should be carefully drafted and reviewed, and both sides should make sure that the contract says what they think it says. #ThrowbackThursday #Contract #Clarity #ContractLaw

In the Southeast Side of Chicago, strong community efforts have played a crucial role in securing new environmental rules for polluters in Illinois. Just four years ago, activists led protests against industrial metal scrapper General Iron, ultimately resulting in the denial of its permit to operate. Now, Illinois has agreed to new rules for big polluters working in marginalized communities across the state—a huge step toward its goal of ending sacrifice zones. Get involved in actually owning your town.
We are joining forces with local businesses next week for a Day of Action to spruce up Mansfield town centre. The autumn blitz will take place on Tuesday 17 September when a range of over 170 activities will be carried out, including painting, weeding, cleaning, and tidying, to enhance the appearance and ambience of the town centre. In addition, the council’s Environmental Health team will be tackling waste, fly-tipping and other environmental issues, and its Licensing team will be checking licensed premises and taxi ranks. Council Community Safety Officers will be cracking down on antisocial behaviour and the police will be targeting bikes and e-scooters being ridden along Westgate and Market Place. The Day of Action has been organised by Mansfield BID and the council. Local businesses are being encouraged to join in with tasks that go beyond the council’s day-to-day duties.
