Just came across a fascinating fact: In 2022, the U.S. added 300,000 jobs in the energy sector, and women accounted for more than half of that growth! That's 149,732 jobs—a nearly 8% increase for women in the energy workforce compared to the previous year. 💼⚡ It's heartening to see the growing representation of women in the energy sector. This not only underscores a shift towards greater diversity in the industry but also emphasizes the critical role women are playing in shaping our energy future. Let's keep celebrating and supporting women in energy! 💪 #WomenInEnergy #DiversityInEnergy #MMWECleads

International Women’s Day (IWD) was celebrated last week, and serves as a true commitment to #genderequality and advocacy for women’s rights, as well as a reminder of women’s achievements around the world. At REGA ENERGY, we believe every day is an opportunity to celebrate the incredible contributions of women within our team. The industry may be moving in the right direction, but there is more to be done. According to an S&P Global Commodity Insights analysis, women now hold 18.6% of C-suite roles, 23% of executive roles and 30.7% of board positions in publicly traded power & utility companies. With a ‘people first approach’ at the core of our ambition, at REGA almost 40% of our employees are women in leadership roles, with 35% representation at the Executive Committee level. Our talented women are shaping our company's success, and we look forward to advancing our industry’s commitment to an equitable environment. #REGAENERGY #energythatmatters #internationalwomenday #genderequality #IWD

WOMEN IN ENERGY - ELEVATING DIVERSITY, EQUITY & INCLUSION IN ENERGY LEADERSHIP ”I think that if you had asked me a couple of years ago, I would probably have answered that my gender has not had an impact on where I am now. But of course, it has because we're all subconsciously biased in some way and are more inclined to hire people who are similar to ourselves." Says Nanna Damgaard Glad, Chief Marketing & Strategy Officer, about being a woman in the energy industry. In the Energy Watch article, Nanna Glad puts the spotlight on her career as a woman in energy but, most significantly, focuses on the work that needs to be done to create more gender diversity within the energy industry. At Centrica Energy, 24% of employees are women, and our goal is to have 30% female employees by the end of 2025 and at least 30% female managers by the end of 2030. To drive these numbers, Nanna Glad is part of elevating our culture and positioning within DE&I, and besides being a role model for women in energy, she also walks the talk: She is mentoring two female early career professionals, she sponsors Centrica Women's Network to implement initiatives to make Centrica an even greater workplace for women and is part of pushing the DE&I agenda in our leadership team and across our organisation. And some of the work has already been paid off. In 2023, Centrica Energy was nominated for the Top 3 of 'Denmark’s Best Workplaces for Women' by Great Place to Work Danmark. Nanna hopes that more women will find the courage to put themselves out there in the energy industry. ”Why hold back if you want to be sure of getting into an industry where there is a real social purpose to what you do? The energy industry is a place where there are so many career opportunities and new career opportunities are constantly opening up because it’s a huge growth industry.” But she's also highly aware, that it comes down to so much more than courage. It's also about early influence on education to bring more women into STEM, working with our biases and gender stereotypes, and implementing initiatives to bring about change. What is the ‘state of women in energy’? Drumroll — we unveiled Women in Energy Global Study yesterday at the Energy Workforce of the Future summit. We are a proud supporter of this study along with our friends at POWERful Women, and thank NES Fircroft and Energy Jobline for their partnership. This year’s study sends a crucial message to the energy sector: Employees want to work for companies that are committed to bringing people together to achieve Net Zero. When asked what they value most in an employer, both women and men cited “a strong commitment to Net Zero” as number one, followed by an inclusive working environment. Building the future workforce also means giving everyone an equal shot at career advancement. This report shows that the energy sector still has work to do on this, to ensure a level playing field for women. Last year ALLY Energy proudly joined the global Women's Energy Network Alliance with the mission to advanxe gender equality globally. Get the study here and learn more about WENA by following us on LinkedIn.
