🎙 "The European Innovation Scoreboard 2024 shows we have made significant progress in innovation performance in recent years. However, innovation divide persists between the Member States, and the EU also has potential to improve its standing in the global innovation race. We must continue our efforts, particularly in striving for more private investment in research and innovation. - Iliana Ivanova Are you curious to find out which countries are the best performers this year? 🏆 Dive into the 🆕 European Innovation Scoreboard 2024 👇 https://lnkd.in/eB7FdnMh #EIT_HEI

Some of the key takeaways of the external mid-term evaluation of Horizon Europe: 👍 Both the European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA) and the EIT - European Institute of Innovation and Technology provide substantial EU added value. 👍The educational component of the EIT remains a distinctive feature and is of high relevance, given the shortage of skilled workers in high tech sectors in the EU. 👍The EIT uniquely supports innovation across Europe through its regional innovation hubs, including in less-developed areas. Operating in local languages, the EIT's geographically balanced model drives innovation across diverse regions. Therefore, the EIT also plays an important role in preventing brain drain. 👍KIC-supported start-ups and scale-ups attracted €3.5 billion in investment in 2021-2022 alone, in part thanks to the EIT KICs’ position and skill in attracting venture capital funds to their ecosystems. 💯 The verdict is in. And the Netherlands ranks among Europe's top 5 innovators according to the recently released European Innovation Scoreboard (EIS). 👀 What criteria were the EIS looking at? The EIS report groups countries as Innovation Leaders or Strong Innovators based on EU averages. Since 2017, most EU nations have improved their innovation performance with some fluctuations and things to improve upon. 🦾 What were the Netherlands strongest areas? The three main areas were a strong education system, top research institutions, and a digitally proficient population. However, the country still struggles with low private investment in innovation, which is below the EU average. ✨Overall, the Netherlands continues to strengthen its status as a leading innovator in Europe – and this can be seen here in Amsterdam, from the city’s dynamic startup ecosystem to the groundbreaking research that is conducted at institutions such as the Amsterdam UMC, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam) and the University of Amsterdam. 🔗Get all the facts here: https://lnkd.in/eU9suncc #DutchInnovators #Top5Innovators #InnovationInAmsterdam #AmsterdamInnovators

Pan maruda w akcji. 🤷♂️ A może Wy potraficie się bardziej ucieszyć naszym awansem w European Innovation Scoreboard 2024 i odpowiedzieć optymistycznie? NINA: "I am currently working on follow-up coverage on the recent European Innovation Scoreboard, which reported that Poland has increased innovation by more than 3% in recent years. I was hoping Porozumienie Spółek Celowych would care to comment. I am interested in learning: What has helped Poland improve its innovation score in recent years? How has Polish R&I contributed to and taken advantage of favorable conditions for innovation? What does R&I need to continue this positive trajectory?" JA: "My perspective focuses on the science-business cooperation in Poland, and I offer a rather critical view. Would a press release according to the following structure be usable for you? 'Poland is improving its performance, but science-business cooperation still has a long way to go!' * Lack of Market-Ready Research: despite their great potential, Polish scientists often do not generate market-attractive research results; * Ineffective Evaluation Systems: the current system for evaluating scientists' work and scientific units needs to be deeply revised. It does not adequately incentivize or reward market-oriented research and innovation; * Reluctance of Private Sector Investment: companies in Poland are hesitant to invest private R&D funds into the development of innovations at low TRL. Instead, they prefer to purchase ready-made technologies from abroad, which stifles domestic innovation growth; * Western Corporations' Reluctance for R&D Cooperation: Western European corporations are not open to R&D cooperation with the CEE Region. They tend to centralize their R&D activities in their home countries. This trend undermines the European Union's ability to compete with China and the United States on the global innovation stage."
