At Second Chance Career Solutions, we are committed to changing that narrative by helping individuals with criminal records secure meaningful employment opportunities. 💼 🔍 Did you know? Another great article by CBIA. Key takeaways: 🔆 -Connecticut currently has 77,000 job openings—10% more than before the pandemic ➡️ The fact that there are 77,000 job openings, which is 10% more than pre-pandemic levels, indicates a strong demand for workers. This could suggest growth in certain sectors, but it may also reflect challenges in filling positions, possibly due to skills mismatches or other barriers. 🔆The state’s falling unemployment rate—now 3.2%, 15th lowest in the U.S. ➡️ An unemployment rate of 3.2% is a positive sign, showing that many people are employed. It’s notably lower than the national average, suggesting a relatively healthy job market in Connecticut. 🔆Connecticut's labor force has DECREASED by 1.6% since 2020 (US avg is an increase of 2.6%). ➡️The decline in the labor force by 1.6% since 2020 is concerning. This could imply that some people are leaving the workforce due to factors like retirement, relocation, or discouragement from job searching. With low unemployment and a shrinking labor force, it's crucial for hiring managers to consider candidates who may not meet every specific requirement but possess transferable skills or potential for growth. Adapting to this new reality can help companies attract a wider talent pool and address workforce shortages effectively. Emphasizing skills, adaptability, and cultural fit over strict qualifications can lead to better hiring outcomes. #connecticutjobs #staffing #hiring #ctjob #workforcedevelopment #hr #recruiting
Connecticut currently has 77,000 job openings—10% more than before the pandemic—while the labor force has declined by 30,600 (-1.6%) over the same time. Connecticut Department of Labor research director Patrick Flaherty says the job market “continues to present challenges for recruiters. Stronger economic growth is constrained by the size of the workforce and high retirements in key industries such as manufacturing." #connecticut #economy #jobs #workforcesolutions #reimagineCT

Interesting study put out by Georgetown University McCourt School of Public Policy and commentary from Cardinal News. This is a long term challenge. It will be interesting how stake holders address this issue via policy, collaboration, and budget. I have found that few young people can envision/imagine their life in the next 10 years. Many of these individuals don't understand their strengths when they are attending middle/high school. The next generation would benefit from a strategic guidance to discover, to grow and to connect their strengths with reality and emerging industry. #Futuregenerations #Virginiabusiness #careerdevelopment #businessdevelopment #workerpreparation #jobalignment #Virginiaeconomics #Peoplepolicy #Virginiastudents #Virginiaworkers #emergingindustry #localdevelopment #economicstrategy #Georgetown

The Reality of Marginalized Workers and Employers Today • Most Employers Aren’t Prepared to Hire the Formerly Incarcerated • Not Everyone who is Justice Impacted is Ready for Employment Non-profits and states, through their respective workforce development office and/or prison to employment initiatives, spend millions annually preparing/training marginalized workers for re-entry into the workforce. That’s great. Here’s the problem. There is little-to-no investment in training the employers on how to retain marginalized workers and set them up for success. That’s a problem . . . a VERY BIG one. We bridge that gap by working with employers to develop and implement a second chance hiring program that uses methodologies which have garnered national and regional recognition and accolades. Investing in job re-entry and career preparation for marginalized workers is wonderful. Without a retention program specifically designed to meet the needs of marginalized workers, it’s fruitless. #secondchancehiring #secondchanceprograms #exfelons https://lnkd.in/g8MPpvX3
