We've conducted a survey through YouGov to see exactly how Brits choose to give back. 💛⁠ 👉️ 32% of Brits support charities at least once a month in any capacity through donations or giving their time to volunteer. 👉️ 44% of over 55's support charities at least once a month. 👉️ 37% of those living in the East of England support charity in some way at least once a month. 👉️ 28% of those living in Scotland support charities at least once a month, one of the lowest areas in the UK, with 23% of those stating that they have never volunteered or donated. 👉️ 30% of Londoners support charities at least once a month, giving them a similar platform to Scotland, with 17% stating that they have never donated or volunteered. We are thrilled to announce our "Keep It Going" scheme, designed to support local charity and community organisations whilst keeping usable items out of landfill. Informally, we’ve done this for many years, and the launch of this website has cemented our commitment. How It Works: 1. Our first priority is to complete high-level safety checks to ensure the items are suitable for re-use. We want to ensure that any donated items are functional and safe for their intended purpose. 2. Once we have completed our safety checks, we will list them on our website for authorised charities and community organisations to request. 3. We will deliver free of charge when we are next in the area between 8am to 4pm. If you are an organisation or know of an organization that can benefit, please complete our online registration form. This year at Christmas, SRL has chosen to support Give Food, a UK charity that’s making a tangible difference by combining data with action to address local and structural food insecurity. Through their innovative approach, they can track and showcase the impact of donations in real terms. For example, the funds from SRL can: Deliver 1 to 1.1 tonnes of food and supplies and provide a detailed online dashboard showing the weight, number of items, and calories donated, along with maps of food bank locations receiving the supplies. Is donating to temples really necessary? The importance and prestige of donating have always been great. But today, everyone has a question in their mind - is the donated money being used in the right place? Is it good to donate to temples? And other such questions arise. In my opinion, if a temple has an ann shetra (food distribution center) that provides food to the poor and needy, and the temple trust takes care of the basic necessities of the people around it, then I would definitely donate. The point is that the donation to the temple should be sufficient enough to support a new bank or help those in need within the country, rather than just accumulating wealth. Seeing someone begging for food on the streets, at bus stops, or outside temples evokes compassion. However, putting your hand in the temple's donation box inspires help for those in need.
