IT companies like Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Infosys are looking to hire fresh talent through small-scale recruitment drives, amid giving a miss to campus placements, Beena Parmar reports for The Economic Times. Having rolled out programmes to hire junior and mid-level professionals, the focus remains on specific tech skills, the report adds. Anticipating a market upswing, the firms aim to future-proof themselves with this move, says Krishna Vij, Business Head - IT staffing at TeamLease Digital. Depending on the volume and urgency of the positions, these drives may last up to weeks or months, she adds. VIT Vellore has received 900 job offers from TCS for campus placement, prachi verma and Sreeradha Basu share in another report for The Economic Times. The company has extended 410 offers to freshers at SRM Institute Of Science and Technology. Such developments have raised hopes for other engineering colleges and students, the report adds. The selection criteria for entry-level jobs, however, has become more stringent for engineering graduates this year, Reshab Shaw reports for Moneycontrol. According to placement officials, IT companies are looking for “expert-level” skills and some firms have even made psychometric tests mandatory. The benchmark for minimum grades have increased compared to last year, and students are finding it difficult to qualify, says Anjani Kumar Bhatnagar, Deputy Director of Amity Education Group. IT company TCS eyes 'Prime' campus talents with Rs 9-11 L offers 🖥 👨💼 👩💼 Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), India’s largest IT services firm, has introduced a new hiring tier called “Prime” as part of its campus recruitment strategy this year. This initiative aims to attract top talent from the fresh graduate pool. Engineers recruited under the Prime category will receive annual compensation packages ranging from Rs 9 lakh to Rs 11 lakh, significantly higher than standard entry-level offers. Girish Nandimath, TCS’s global head of talent acquisition, shared insights on this new category, emphasizing the need to secure high-potential candidates. The Prime category is designed to mitigate the risks associated with students exploring other opportunities after receiving “dream” offers, ensuring their commitment to TCS. The urgency to secure top talent is driven by rapid technological advancements in the IT services sector. TCS seeks candidates with strong programming and coding skills, along with expertise in emerging technologies such as AI, GenAI, and machine learning. This move builds on TCS’s previous recruitment strategies, where distinct categories like Ninja and Digital were introduced in 2019-20. Nandimath noted that while the bulk of hiring will continue under the Ninja category, the experience with Digital hires has been positive, and similar growth is expected for Prime. TCS plans to hire 40,000 fresh graduates from campuses in 2024-25. Nandimath also highlighted that recruits under the Digital or Prime categories tend to require less training and show higher productivity. Santhanam, TCS’ vice-president and chief learning officer, added that upward mobility within TCS remains possible, even for those starting in the Ninja category. #tcscareers #tcsjobs #staffing #hiring #recruitment #hr

Freshers are taken for granted in India, especially by the service companies in campus placement It was this day back on 2022 that a younger Girish filed an application for DXC Technology as a part of campus hiring in Jain University for 4.2 LPA, After attempting an exam with TCS, campus hiring, I lost hope of getting placed in a good company as i got frustrated due to the irresponsible hiring HR team. as i reached out to them, my server was gone, and they told me that 10 Lakh people were writing their exams and nothing can be done around it I reached out to my placement committee, and they suggested I try for another role as they knew worth was more than 10LPA I single-handedly won multiple events and conferences, which collectively many departments in CSE could not even say yes to, right from Smart India Event to IIT Madras event and still more but could not be a part of many companies hiring on campus like Siemens LSEG (London Stock Exchange Group) Dell Technologies Delloite Consulting Siemens Energy Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India, which we purposefully ignored due to our branch being a criteria, Yes, we had Robotics and Automation as our main branch but i have heard people of thermal engineering getting hired for the same but not us , despite having better scope and output efficiency in overall branch-wise and i find it a good time to post on this as only CSE people get good opportunities in a random engineering college and reject other good offers while core engineering students dream to get placed in any of them It really breaks my heart to see a company blacklist my college just because its CSE students reject offer while core branch and other students deserve a good chance to interview at least in these firms. Now my concern is with my fellow batch folks who has a career gap due to an on-boarding delay from DXC Technology, as they placed them before first on campus and 2 years have passed with no response after multiple petitions. I have my affected friends looking for an opportunity to restart their career Karthikeyan S Goutham and a still few people who i could not tag but can i have answer to my question as this monopoly continues? yes we deserve a answer to 2 of core students questions 1) Core students deserved to be interviewed too as we know everyone undergo same training and are willing to contribute to country and company in their interest? 2) Is CSE just overflowed in the name of CTC and recruiters becoming deaf on other students as they do not exist ? PS: Many of my friends face this issue #hiring #gap #qna #answerr

📉 IT Sector Correction Affects Engineering Campus Placements 📉 The lingering impacts of the pandemic continue to challenge campus placements, especially in the IT sector. Prestigious engineering institutes like the IITs have reported a noticeable decline in placement offers and median salary packages this year. 🔹 Major IT firms like Infosys, Wipro, and Tech Mahindra have slowed down their entry-level hiring. 🔹 The placement rates in top IITs have dropped significantly, with IIT Madras seeing only 19 lakhs Salaray package this year. 🔹 Economic uncertainties and a shift in priorities have led to reduced hiring activities and a focus on retaining current talent. Industry experts highlight a growing trend towards upskilling and obtaining higher education as alternatives. Despite the downturn, institutions are hopeful, emphasizing the importance of in-demand skills like AI, ML, cybersecurity, and IoT for future employability. As we navigate through these challenging times, it's crucial for students and fresh graduates to adapt by focusing on skill enhancement and staying updated with industry trends. #CampusPlacements #ITSector #EngineeringGraduates #SkillDevelopment #FutureOfWork 🚀

Hi all, 👋 I wanted to share an update regarding my career. After completing my studies at one of the top engineering colleges affiliated with Anna University, where I scored 80% in my academics, I applied to over 150 jobs. I was placed on-campus at Accenture and Elevant quickly joined after the interview, which meant I didn't attend college for my final year. After a year on the job, I went through an 8-month probation period as an intern. When I was offered a full-time position, I chose not to continue because the role they assigned me was not aligned with my interests. so I have reassign the job,I decided to pursue a career in my core IT field. During this period, I missed interviews with many top MNC companies. Before choosing a job, it's important to consider whether it is suitable for you. Coming from an IT background, I aimed to join top MNC companies. Despite my efforts, I wasn't shortlisted for many roles I applied for. Eventually, I attended interviews with IBM, HCL, Accenture, and Tech Mahindra. I received two offers with very good salaries and roles that matched my expectations. However, five months have passed and I have not yet been boarded due to the recession. Many people I know are working in different companies, feeling unsatisfied with their work. Despite the wait, I am still hopeful and trying to get into top MNCs. Many of my friends, who were also selected with very good packages at top MNCs, have been told that they will be onboard in 2025. We are from the 2023 engineering batch. Engineering is a highly demanding degree, and the subjects or syllabus are very tough, but we still managed to get good ranks. However, many MNCs are not considering freshers for roles, despite initially offering jobs. #sharing about my career #career #Engineering #onboard #MNC's
