**We are Google employees - Google must drop Dragonfly** ===================================================== As Google employees, we are writing to express our deep concerns about the Google search project codenamed Dragonfly. We are compelled to speak out because we believe that this project poses significant threats to the people of China, the integrity of Google's mission, and our own values as employees. Dragonfly is designed to comply with China's censorship regime, which would require Google to block access to certain websites and search results. This would not only be a violation of human rights but also a betrayal of Google's commitment to free expression and access to information. We understand that Google is trying to return to China, but we must not compromise on our values. We urge Google to drop Dragonfly and instead focus on promoting a free and open internet. We are many, but we are one voice. We will not be silenced. #GoogleMustDropDragonfly #FreeInternet #HumanRights #GoogleValues Source: https://lnkd.in/gFWJ8VsD Update Date: 2024-07-12T19:22:49Z

Google Local has announced the sunsetting of website created via the Google Business Profile. Originally created to serve the next billion users in India and other less developed countries. Initially there was a large uptake but over the past year Google has slowly made them unavailable to users by hiding the interface. Starting March 1, 2024 if someone uses the URL they will be redirected to your GBP profile. After June 10 the site will show as unavailable. A reminder that a business should NEVER rely on Google for business critical functionality.
