Wrapped up a webinar looking ahead to the major issues coming up at #WRC-23, shining a light on how the International Telecommunication Union's event functions and what impact it will have over the coming years. It was a fascinating conversation covering debates between #mobile, #satellite, #unlicensed... but also some of the processes and underpinnings of global #spectrum #allocation and #licensing, including questions of the cost of spectrum and issues like #sharing, #trading, #coexistence and #aggregation. We are proud of our researchers Pablo Fernández Pérez, Claudio Fiandrino, and Joerg Widmer, who have received the Best Paper Runner-Up Award at ACM WiNTECH (a workshop co-located with ACM MobiCom). Congratulations! 👏 🔹 In the paper “Characterizing and Modeling Mobile Networks User Traffic at Millisecond Level”, they make a twofold contribution. On the one hand, they make available a large dataset of mobile traffic from multiple Base Stations (BSs). The key distinct feature of the dataset is in the nature of the data, which is based on real LTE traffic information decoded from control channel information at the millisecond level. On the other hand, they carry out an in-depth characterization of user traffic and study how widely adopted probability distributions for mobile traffic do apply at short-term scales. ➡️ You can check the details of their work here: https://lnkd.in/d7mg9HhY
