RECEPTION, MY BUDDY “You seem to want that vivida vis animi which spurs and excites most young men to please , to shine and to excel. without the desire and pains necessary to be considerable, depend upon it, You never can be so. ~Lord Chesterfield Reception is the identity of the laboratory - it's where patients form their first impression. The front desk and Phlebotomy areas play key roles in patient care. Processing patients on the Laboratory Information System and billing are just a part of the job - effective communication and self-control are vital when dealing with patients and medical professionals. Rejecting samples is challenging but crucial for ensuring quality results. Cooperation between clinicians and lab staff is essential for the benefit of the patients. Remember, "your result is as good as your sample." #LaboratoryOperations #PatientCare #HealthcareCommunication #ProudBiomedicalScientist. #NSSDIARIES

Life-saving support at your fingertips!"🖐️ Here is how we do it! 📱Our central patient overview helps workers to quickly detect patients that are at high risk. It's simple: 🔴 Red - Emergency 🟡 Yellow - Priority 🔵 Blue - Technical Alarm ⚪ No Color - Low Priority ⏰ To minimize distractions, the alarms in our central patient overview are purely visual alarms, while at the bedside, the IMPALA monitor adds audible alarms to notify healthcare workers when a patient is in need, allowing for timely, life-saving intervention. But don’t just take our word for it, here is A. Bengo - Malawian Medical Officer: ❤️ “Working as a medical officer in one busy pediatric ward; IMPALA makes my work tremendously easy. It has reduced the amount of time we spend getting vital signs and also has improved the quality of the care we give.” 🌬️With the central overview and monitor, patient monitoring, assessment and prioritization become a breeze, empowering healthcare workers and saving lives. 👨🏾⚕️👩🏾⚕️ To all our healthcare workers: What is your experience of alarms in a healthcare setting?

After a long and wild ride, John F. Waters, MSN, ANP-BC and I have successfully launched The Cove Concierge Medicine in Castle Rock, and established three new patients in our very first week. A couple of thoughts I just want to reflect on this evening: 1) breaking from the easier path to labor for 18 months on top of full times jobs (50+ hrs a week) plus trying to live life and find ourselves was HARD. However, for the price of freedom to own our office and truly take excellent care of others the way they deserve, we would struggle over and over again. My lesson learned: be brave and embrace the challenges, because the rewards may be endless and so very sweet. 2) patients continue to teach me that doctors often times need to “shut up and listen” because the patient will tell you what’s going on. Some in my profession struggle with hubris and don’t care to listen. But, the majority of providers are good people who want to help, but they are stuck in a system that does not allow them to provide high quality care without a sacrifice to themselves or their patients. #donewiththat A patient came to me yesterday and we literally spent 2.5 hours today to understand her history in depth, the acuity of her symptoms, her medication challenges/apprehensions, and her goals (what care was she seeking from us). With some safe medications and lots of talking through her problems, she left smiling instead of sobbing. I called to follow up with her today and she states she finally had slept and was feeling better. My lesson learned: if motivated physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants are well studied and well trained, let them drive the care the right way. They will heal the patient and find ways to reset the course of the healthcare system so many of us clinicians struggle in. Together, we can shift the paradigm back to providing excellent care and offering time to have problems addressed. And lastly…this afternoon, my embroidered white coat has arrive with not just my name, but my very own office logo. A celebratory toast to my adventure that I never thought I would take. You know what I feel in my heart?…this is going to be good!!!!!
