Many article commenters shared the impact on the employer, and no one addressed the "why" workers are working two jobs. I am on the other side of the issues and research to identify a root cause. In this case, a possible "why" is the current cost of living trends and wages. Many people work two #jobs today because life is getting more expensive, but #paychecks aren't increasing. The Cost-of-Thriving Index (COTI) shows us this by comparing how much we #earn to how much we need to #pay for big things like food, housing, health care, transportation, and education. You can learn more here: https://lnkd.in/gX7KgGek In 1985, a worker could cover these costs by working 40 weeks a year, with some money left over. But in 2022, the same worker would be short by ten weeks' worth of income, even if they worked all year. Plus, people in jobs that only pay a little are seeing their wages increase less than the cost of living. That's why many people have to work two jobs to get by.
