While current tools like lipid nanoparticles have limitations, GenEdit's technology, free of lipids or viruses, aims to overcome these challenges. GenEdit utilizes a platform with diverse polymers for tissue and cell targeting, focusing on neurological diseases. The collaboration with Genentech involves developing nanoparticles for nucleic-acid therapies targeting autoimmune diseases. Genentech is set to pay GenEdit $15 million upfront and up to $629 million in success-based payments, plus royalties on resulting drug sales. Delivery remains a significant challenge in advancing genetic therapies.
