I’m just a nursing student, but am I missing something ❓Keir Starmer’s claim that NHS agency staff are being paid £5,000 per shift seems a bit exaggerated 🤨Yes, agency workers cost more, but that's because there’s a severe shortage of permanent staff, not due to poor management. Criticising the NHS for using agency staff while ignoring the staffing crisis isn’t fair. As for the idea that the NHS won’t get more funding without reform - come on❕ The system is already underfunded and overstretched, so more money is desperately needed. Sure, funding alone won’t solve everything, but we need real solutions, like free nursing and other healthcare staff training, better working conditions, and ways to retain staff long-term. Blaming NHS staff and the system misses the point 🙄 We need both proper funding and reforms, not just more pressure on an already struggling system. #NHS #HealthcareCrisis #NHSFunding #SupportOurNHS #HealthcareReform #NHSStaff #NHSSupport #StudentNurse Keir Starmer #LabourParty https://lnkd.in/eFJzV3g6

❤️🩹 NHS Lanarkshire is leading the way in efforts to transform how unscheduled care is managed - with thousands of patients benefitting from a pioneering service. 🏥 As hospitals across the UK face well-publicised winter pressures, we are calling on the public to access care through the right channels – and lean on the expertise of a multi-skilled team, working behind-the-scenes 24-7, 365, to provide support at the most vulnerable points in people’s lives. 🖥️ Operating from a state-of-the-art control centre at our HQ, at Kirklands in Bothwell, the Flow Navigation Centre+Plus (FNC+Plus) is staffed by nurses, emergency consultants, ambulance staff and support personnel. Drawing on decades of diverse frontline experience, concentrated in one room, the team aims to provide faster responses, shorter hospital stays, and, wherever possible, care at – or closer to – home. 🚑 Since April almost 5,000 people have been routed to alternative supports – avoiding the need to go to hospital. 💬 Trudi Marshall, Interface Director, and Professor Jann Gardner, Chief Executive, say the pioneering team, the only one of its kind in scope and scale in the UK, has the potential to be ‘absolutely transformative’, particularly in helping to maintain hospital capacity for the most unwell. 👉However, its success depends on public cooperation – as the system only functions effectively when patients follow the correct pathways into care in the first instance. 🌎 Read the full story here: https://lnkd.in/eEpfzUv6

In all of these hospitals and many more, doctors, nurses and other members of staff spend quite a lot of time and effort working against their dilapidated buildings to still deliver the standard of care patients need. It doesn’t have to be this way - modern, well designed, well maintained hospitals support the efficient delivery of high quality care. Productivity in the acute sector will not improve without significant capital investment. Another funding model must be found. https://lnkd.in/eWnVa6FM

👨⚕️Understanding NHS Waiting Times: Challenges and Solutions The NHS faces persistent challenges, particularly in managing waiting times for treatments and consultations. 👩⚕️ Current State of NHS Waiting Times As of May 2024, NHS waiting times have reached record highs, with approximately 7.47 million people waiting to start routine hospital treatment. This is the highest number since records began in 2007. The NHS Constitution aims for 92% of people waiting for elective treatment to be seen within 18 weeks, but this standard has not been met since September 2015. 🏥 Factors Contributing to Long Waiting Times * Increased Demand: A growing and aging population increases the demand for healthcare services. * Staff Shortages: Significant shortages of doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals limit the capacity for timely care. * Funding Constraints: Financial pressures restrict resources for expanding services and infrastructure. * COVID-19 Impact: The pandemic caused many non-urgent treatments to be postponed, creating a backlog. 💉 Efforts to Reduce Waiting Times * Efficiency Improvements: Streamlining processes, Better use of clinics and theatres, better patient management, and maximising each appointment, reducing repetition. * Increased Funding: The government has pledged additional funding for new facilities and staff. * Community Care: Expanding community care services to reduce the burden on hospitals. 🚑 NHS waiting times remain a significant challenge. By addressing the root causes, improving efficiency and implementing innovative solutions, the NHS can provide timely and effective care to all patients. 💊 Arevna Insourcing is one such solution, maximising existing resources, off peak usage of premises and equipment. Cost efficiency, Strong Clinical Governance & Quality Control, will all lead to an increase in Patient care and safety. #nhs #nhswaiting #RTT #HealthInnovation #NHSimprovement #nhsleadership #nhsstaff #nhscrisis

I can fully appreciate it's a tough time (understatement?) within the NHS at the moment. The latest report from the Royal College of Nursing - Company is a heartbreaking and infuriating read. I think everyone can agree that corridor care should not be the norm. It's unsafe and undignified and not a pleasant experience for patients and staff alike. But little things can make a big difference. If you are an NHS Trust that is facing challenges at the moment, please feel free to speak to me or any of the specialist healthcare team at Darwin Group. We have On Demand Building Solutions available to help ease the pressures you are facing. ⭕️ This means you will have extra space to treat patients in a fit for purpose environment. ⭕️ We can help ease the triage process by creating a "pre-triage" hub so patient's symptoms can be diagnosed and referred to the appropriate department more quickly ⭕️ We can support front end by delivering an Ambulance Handover Pod so Ambulance crews can get back on the road again where they are needed most, instead of being sat for hours outside your A&E dept. ⭕️ We can create additional ward space to act as a decant ward - from 6 + beds to help ease bed challenges ⭕️ Need help with your discharge process? We've supported hospitals with comfortable lounges so beds can be freed up while patients are waiting to be discharged. ⭕️ Concerned about how you are going to staff these additional facilities when you already have staff challenges? We can help with this. Please ask me for more information. We have buildings ready to support you so please feel free to contact me on the following to discuss further: Email: vphillips@darwingroup.co.uk Call or text: 07867 454720 #nhs #healthcare #health #hospital #nhsengland #nhswinterpressures #resilience #modular #icb #nhsestates #nhsefm Image Source - The Independent

Edited: Act is 2022 not 2014... Morning all. So, section 91, Triangle of care... have you heard of them??? Section 91 is part of the Health and Care Act 2022 ( corrected from 2014 ) It describes that the NHS trusts and foundation trusts have a duty to involve patients and carers in discharge planning for adults who require care after leaving hospital. So what does that mean? It ensures patients and carers have a say in their care and discharge plans by promoting communication between healthcare professionals, patients, and carers with the intention to improve the quality of care and reduce unplanned readmissions. Triangle of Care emphasizes the importance of collaboration and communication between healthcare professionals, patients, and carers. Where the Healthcare Professional is the medical or nursing staff providing care to the patient, the Patient is the individual receiving care and the Carer is the person who provides support and assistance to the patient, often a family member or friend. The intention is improved patient outcomes due to shared decision-making and coordinated care. This can have a further effect resulting in enhanced patient satisfaction and reduced stress for carers. How does Section 91 and the Triangle of Care work together and how does it relate to you? Section 91 and the Triangle of Care promotes patient-centered care and collaboration between healthcare professionals, patients, and carers. Section 91 provides a legal foundation for involving patients and carers in discharge planning, while the Triangle of Care emphasizes the importance of collaboration and communication among all parties involved in the care process. Update on action to improve healthcare provision in Colchester: I am pleased that Suffolk and North East Essex Integrated Care Board has been allocated £1.92 billion for 2024/25. This is part of this Government’s record of investing a record amount in the NHS. In East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust, there were 78 more full-time-equivalent doctors and 77 more nurses in September 2023 than there were in September 2022. This is local delivery on this Government’s commitment to recruit 50,000 more nurses. In the Colchester constituency there were 137 more full-time-equivalent direct patient care staff working in general practice in September 2023 than there were in September 2019. Each integrated care system receives a capital allocation for locally determined priority capital projects and the maintenance of their estate: the Suffolk and North East Essex ICB was allocated over £56 million in 2023/24.

Not every health concern requires an emergency trip. 🏥 Exploring your healthcare options can ensure you receive the right care when needed. Here's where to start: 1. Primary Care Provider: Your family doctor or other primary care provider is often the best place for non-urgent concerns and ongoing and preventative care. 2. Health Link (811): Available 24/7 and will connect you with registered nurses who can provide health advice, answer your questions, and guide you to the appropriate care. The nurses may book you an appointment with a PCN semi-urgent Access clinic. 3. Urgent Care and Emergency: If you are seriously ill or injured or have potentially life-threatening conditions, you should immediately call 911 or go to an emergency. Paramedic Support for Hospitals, Care Homes, Hospices, GPs and Clinics in Hertfordshire, Essex, Bedfordshire and North London As winter approaches, the pressure on healthcare services will undoubtably mount. Yesterday, the BBC reported that the East of England Ambulance Service has been forced to reduce costs by £16.2M highlights the immense strain on an already stretched system. We understand that for many of you in GP surgeries, private hospitals, care homes, and hospices, the uncertainty of when critical help will arrive can be a cause for deep concern—especially when caring for patients whose condition may rapidly deteriorate. The strain on emergency ambulance operations can also impact general healthcare operations. If you run a day clinic, for example, and staff are stuck looking after a deteriorating patient hours after their shift, this may affect their ability to come to work the next day. At MET Medical, we’ve implemented standby crews precisely for these moments of crisis. Our team is here, ready to support local healthcare partners in Hertfordshire and the surrounding areas to ensure you can get help for your patients when it is needed most. Whether it’s urgent medical transfers to the emergency department or another centre, assistance in critical situations, or just knowing that someone is available to provide expert care, we’re ready to step in and alleviate the burden. We empathise with the challenges you face every day, especially during winter when the stakes are higher. Our standby crews are a direct response to the gaps in response times, and our mission is to ensure that no one feels left alone in times of need. Healthcare providers can set up an account for free and utilise our pay-per-use service. Stay resilient, and know that MET Medical is here to support you and your patients during this critical period. Together, we can get through the pressures that lie ahead. #HealthcareSupport #WinterPressures #Resilience #UrgentCare #METMedical #PatientCare #GP #CareHomes #PrivateHospitals #Hospices
