Pearson did some amazing research on how English can improve lives. This research was done in Florida, but the implications are still broad. They found, for example, that "integrating into society is the top motivator for English language learning." 👏 I’m please to tell you that our article about European TV in minority languages has just been published in the Spanish journal "Textual & Visual Media" (vol. 18, no. 2, pp. 5-9). The paper, lead by Prof. Iñaki Zabaleta Urkiola, studies the audience of 7 TV channels in Basque (ETB), Catalan (TV3), Frisian (Omrop Fryslân), Galician (TVG), Irish (TG4), Scottish Gaelic (BBC Alba), and Welsh (S4C). Results show that the typical profile of a European minority language TV viewer is a 55-year-old woman, being #ETB and #Omrop the "younger" channels. Besides, all studied channels have a lower share percentage than than majority language channels, except #TV3 and #TGV, higher than TVE. Do you have routines?   They say habits take 21 days, but I DO NOT believe that. It’s got to be longer than that, right?   In case you need a reminder of some things you can do to improve your English (without booking a technical English course with me), here’s a list.   Just pick one thing to do this week. Then pat yourself on the back for being productive.     ☑️ Open your streaming service of choice (Netflix, Disney+, etc), and change your audio and subtitle language to English.    ☑️ Subscribe to the newsletter of an English newspaper. This will be your daily 2-minute reading exercise. I like the New York Times.    ☑️ Talk to yourself - in English!
