NIH Community Engagement Alliance (CEAL)’s Post

Although many women in the U.S. experience healthy pregnancies, there is a rise in serious illnesses and health issues during pregnancy, especially among women of color. For example, Black women consistently face a higher risk of pregnancy complications related to high blood pressure when compared to white women. This Preeclampsia Awareness Month, we highlight the work of VIBRANT MOMS led by Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. This IMRPOVE-CIP research coalition focuses on preeclampsia prevention (with low-dose aspirin), screening, and blood-pressure management to address preeclampsia in underserved women in rural and urban counties of the Texas Panhandle.
