"I feel I have a person to talk to who is equally a good therapist". In the recent interview a very famous Youtuber has gone viral on social media. In one of the clips, the creator talked about his experiences with therapy. The negative experiences with therapy would have significantly impacted his willingness to seek further sessions. This also caught my attention and highlights the importance of understanding the distinction between therapy and therapeutic practices for us all. A lot of people like him feel the same way. Travelling, watching movies, talking to your best friend/partner or doing skin care is therapy for them. These activities are necessary and can be therapeutic, however they are not "therapy". Therapy is a structured process conducted by mental health professionals and involves evidence-based interventions and professional guidance. Therapeutic on the other hand are actions and experiences that make us happy and are beneficial for our well-being and self-care, they do not replace the expertise and structured approach provided by professional therapy 🌻 Understanding this difference is extremely crucial and we should value and engage in therapeutic activities for daily well-being but should also recognize when professional therapy is needed for deeper, structured support❤️ I would also appreciate the interviewer who encourages the creator to talk about the importance of "processing" his emotions. This kind of dialogue helps clarify the importance of therapy and underscores the value of professional support in navigating complex emotions and experiences ✨. I would love to hear more views on it :) #selfcare #mentalhealth #therapeutic #wellbeing #misconception
