"Wide-angle empathy" - that's an important perspective. So often, we're caught looking for an actor to blame when things aren't going well, whether that's in a clinic, a school or a public health department. But when we zoom out, we see that most people working in complex systems are trying their best against a complicated backdrop. That doesn't mean we can't do better, it just means that blaming individuals probably isn't going to help. Check out this great post from my friend and colleague, Shawn Malone, on how a cool project in South Africa is building up instead of beating up. https://lnkd.in/eNU8-2nt

It promises to be a deep dive into the pivotal role of the NHS in British society. Dame Clare Gerada will draw on over 35 years of experience, and reflect on the NHS's journey from its hopeful beginnings to its current struggles. Through her extensive work in group analysis and psychotherapy, Rachel will provide insights into the psychological toll on healthcare workers, who often bear the brunt of these conflicting emotions and expectations.
