Last week our Victoria L. Reichenberg, MS, PCC joined José Trevejo, MD, PhD, Michelle Graham, and Jigar Raythatha as panelists at the 2023 Boston Chief Medical Officers Network Event. The group discussed strategies for Biotech CMOs to survive and thrive while managing rapid organizational growth and culture in an ever-changing business environment. Key takeaways: · Self-awareness is foundational – Knowing who you are as a leader (strengths, values, ways of working) makes you more effective, no matter the size of the organization. · Team health at the C-Suite level is critical – And is essential to connect across functional areas and lead with an enterprise perspective. · Mindset needs to evolve as organizations scale – The hands-on engagement that works in early stages isn’t sustainable or even desirable during periods of rapid growth. · Scale your internal systems with intention – How you thread the needle from relying on relationships in early stage to relying on processes as your organization grows makes all the difference. Special thanks to Timothy Peters-Strickland for organizing this engaging and high-impact event!

Just had the great pleasure of attending Harrison.Ai’s International Women’s Day event. So many great takeaways from the panel and a joy to hear from others in the audience about the latest opportunities & challenges in the health/tech/start-up ecosystem. Notwithstanding all the fabulous advancements, today’s ASX top 20 still have nil female Chairs despite nearing equity for board composition. There is much still to be done. Some real thought provoking soundbites from the session: 1. It’s not good enough for individual female successes, we need to redesign the structures that got us here 2. Courage is a muscle 3. Take action; in your small world or team, what can you do to move the needle? 4. Don’t be afraid to shoot the shot…there are plenty of males out there doing that with far less experience and expertise than you & getting away with it 5. Be kind to yourself, have mentors, coaches. Acknowledge that on a rolling LTM basis you’re likely to have 33.3% crap days, 33.3% neutral and the balance awesome where you are your amazing self.

Offering a public health approach to higher education and specializing in AOD, sexual respect, active bystanderism, mental health promotion, motivational interviewing, assessment, with athletics as a key constituency.
Well-deserved! It takes time and skill to be such an effective public health communicator.
It is with overwhelming gratitude, a little embarrassment, and incredible excitement to share that I made it into the TIME100 in Health! I’m equally floored to be alongside these other 99 incredible changemakers worldwide. They are my heroes—people who ruffle the feathers, refuse to accept the status quo, and innovate, and, most importantly, they are doers. Not because it’s flashy but because it will save lives. https://lnkd.in/g4CQXFBs

Forging New Trails - LeadingAge Ohio 2023 🏞️ I would usually post a picture of the booth, but that doesn’t represent me, the initiatives of the conference, or the great conversations held! What does it mean to forge new paths⁉️ It means you are an innovator, paving the way for others, and helping as many other people as possible achieve their purpose/mission. How does this happen? Conversations ➡️ Innovation ➡️ Implementation/Partnerships Partnerships and industry feedback give direction on how to: - Institute a value-based care plan - Establish a strong online reputation to boost occupancy - Solve staffing challenges One of my favorite quotes is, “If you are not willing to learn, no one can help you. If you are determined to learn, no one can stop you.” 💪 P.S. - LeadingAge Ohio Thank you for an amazing conference 💯 #residentcare #residents #careplanning #staffingsolutions #onlinereputation #googlereviews #socialvisits #lovemeter Accushield®

Senior Vice President | MedTech and Digital Health Strategist | MSK and Women's Health Thought Leader
One of the best parts about working for Health Advances in addition to working with great people (see below) on the industry's toughest issues is getting to live our founders' (Mark Speers Paula Ness Speers) values. Yesterday we got together on Founders Day to give back and volunteer at Cradles to Crayons - an organization that supports at-risk youth with school supplies and fights clothing insecurity. Coinciding with #WomensHealthWednesday - we know that young moms and children in the US are disproportionately low income. Did you know that 42% of all US births are financed by Medicaid? These moms tend to be younger than privately insured moms, they have higher rates of mortality, and babies born to moms on Medicaid have higher rates of low birthweight. https://lnkd.in/gGCgUD-v Helping support low-income children is inherently supporting #womenshealth. #healthequity
One of the best days of the year. I had a great time hanging out with Health Advances Boston/Newton office and supporting a great cause, Cradles to Crayons. The MedTech, Digital, and HIT Leadership Team took a quick picture break! Tracy Walters Darcy Krzynowek Masha Dumanis Jeffrey Abraham Greg Chittim Brandon Wade Alena Petrella Andrew Millar Stay tuned for pics from all of Health Advances Founders Day pro bono events across our global offices.

#IfUDontKnowNowUKnow #MindBlowing talk highlighting the massive problem behind #RegulatoryCapture. It is one of the biggest frustration to #Innovation. In some western markets, it is increasingly becoming hard to miss. The issue is elegantly presented by the legendary Bill Gurley at the recent #AllInSummit. In a short 20 minutes, he combines amazing story telling skills with two decades of stubborn data points to nail it down. By the end of the speech, you understand why there could not be a better title than … “#2851Miles”. Illustrations around COVID testing and telecom equipments’ #ArtificialPricing are poignant. There is also the case study for the dominant BioTech player called Epic which starts at min 11 of the speech … "[Epic CEO Judy Faulkner] was the ONLY corporate representative on Obama's Health IT council in 2009. They came up with a brilliant idea, and I have to assume she helped. Doctors would receive $44K each if they bought software. $38B, you can look it up. The second phase, they got paid $17K more to prove they were using it. It was called 'Meaningful Use'. The ONC decided the threshold that software would need to comply with this mandate, and I'm assuming they took Epic's feature set and plowed it into this spreadsheet. They had 3 record fines -- $155M, $57M, $145M -- against the lesser competitors of Epic. If you've studied the innovators' dilemma, the way startups disrupt is they come out with lower feature products, but one that's really meaningful to the user and then they grow... they put a #BrickWall there so they couldn't come up. You may ask, am I unhappy with Judith? I'm disgusted with it. BUT, if I were a judge in the Olympic Regulator Competition, I'd give her a perfect 10!” It is simply phenomenal to live in an era where such thought provoking debates between experienced investors & scientists - typically restricted to private circles - get openly diffused on public platforms. Big thanks to Jason Calacanis and the besties for continuing to push the envelop by delivering week after week remarkable insights for society at large & ultimately elevating the game of #KnowledgeSharing

An Ending and a Beginning ... "The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams." Eleanor Roosevelt. This quote hangs above the door at our building at 210 John Street in Moncton. It reflects who we are – Dreamers. We – Marcel and Vera – have been dreaming and doing together for 36 years. 36 crazy, chaotic, and magical years. And for 33 those years, we’ve run businesses together. We’ve had several companies over this time: 80/20 Communications, DDx Health Strategies, Clinical Monitoring Group, HealthConnect, and p.r.n publishing. It’s time for change. After 33 successful years working within pharmaceutical and healthcare, we've ceased HealthConnect's business operations, and are creating new chapters in our lives. Vera’s new adventure includes helping companies and individuals develop "Leadership Within" through speaking and workshops related to her best-selling book, "The WORDZ We Wear: How to show up with Confidence and create your best life." Her focus is on women, yet the framework is universally applicable. For Marcel, it’s a new partnership. The assets of HealthConnect Pharmacy were acquired by Create Compounding Atlantic. Marcel is working with his new partners – Andrew, Tyson and Mahdi – setting up a central fill compounding operation to serve Atlantic Canada. It’s going to be different. Yet it’s really an evolution. HealthConnect has worked with incredible clients and vendors over the years, and helped many people establish new careers. If we learned anything, it’s that when you do what you believe is right, you can get through almost everything. When you fully support and respect one another, you can build a great business and a great relationship. When you put family first, you won’t get everything right, but you will get enough right. And when you refuse to retire, there is so much life ahead of you. Friends, family, colleagues, clients...thank you for the roles you played in our business and our success. And a special thank you to our daughter, Danai, who has quietly run the company in the background for years. Our clients know and love her and will miss her. Here’s to the next chapter. Marcel A.
