Working strategically to better coordinate and communicate across business, government and nonprofit sectors to improve health and economic outcomes.
It is a tremendous honor to be a part of this effort. If you are not a member of the Nonprofit Executive Alliance but you are a business or nonprofit leader, or an elected official, and would like to participate, please let me know. Next month, in partnership with Broward County Government, the Coordinating Council of Broward, Nonprofit Executive Alliance, Community Foundation of Broward and the American Jewish Committee (AJC) we will be co-hosting three workshops on Anti-Semitism. These workshops are geared to nonprofit and business leaders as well as elected officials. Not only is this issue deeply personal to me but Broward County has one of the largest populations of Jews in the world and it's one of the fastest growing populations in our community. Antisemitism in America is rising, becoming more commonplace and more violent. Ranging from threatening Jewish people on the streets to a constant barrage of online hate—it impacts your staff, board, volunteers, those you serve, their families, and our entire community. Recognizing that antisemitism poses a threat to democracy, the White House recently released the U.S. National Strategy to Counter Antisemitism, which adopts a “whole-of-society” approach to addressing antisemitism in America. Based on AJC’s comprehensive Call to Action Against Antisemitism, the National Strategy provides concrete examples of what businesses can do to stem the tide, such as including antisemitism awareness and training in diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) curricula. It also calls on employers to educate andshare information about Jewish American heritage, culture, and history. American leadership—from public, private, and nonprofit sectors—has a critical role to play in fighting all forms of hatred, including antisemitism. That fight begins with understanding the problem, learning about the diversity of the Jewish community, and empowering people to speak out. Please reach out if you would like to learn more.

Before you become a leader, you must first learn to serve. Because leadership is all about service. To your team. To your customers. And to your community. That's what I admire most about my fellow board members at the YMCA on Granby. Whether volunteering at a community cleanup, packing food for Thanksgiving baskets, or fundraising for our organization's financial assistance program, they ACTIVELY serve the community. I'm honored to volunteer alongside them to support programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all. ➡️ What are other meaningful ways to serve the community? Drop your ideas in the comments. --- 📸 Some of the YMCA on Granby board members at our annual retreat #communityservice #volunteer #philanthropy #leadership #nonprofit

What an eye-opening discussion at the session “Leveling the Playing Field: Equity in Evaluation for Black Non-Profit Organizations” for ABFE 2024. Thank you @Tina Fletcher, @Wiselene Dorceus, @Endaisia Love for sharing your insights and experience. The conversation centered around evaluating and improving the impact of nonprofit organizations through a more inclusive lens, including the oft-underexplored importance of understanding the cultural context when considering the need for alignment with equitable practices. Without a frank addressing of these issues, we risk isolating this vibrant and crucial segment of the broader non-profit community. I hope to see this dialogue continued and would welcome any tips or insights into how anyone reading with experience in this area builds their own playbook for success to support non-profit organizations providing key support to Black communities. A better future starts with a better understanding of what it means to include. #NonprofitImpact #InclusiveEvaluation #SupportingBlackCommunities
