Yesterday, our CEO and founder Katja Toropainen (she/her) delivered a guest lecture at Aalto University School of Business's People Management course on the opportunities and challenges for diversity, equity, and inclusion in 2025. During her discussion with the class, Katja encouraged the students to: • Cut through the noise and approach inclusion efforts with a critical mindset • Reflect on what each element of diversity, equity, and inclusion means in practice and how it shapes work at every level, from senior leadership to everyday operations • Create space for open conversations and constructive feedback • Recognize the potential risks of placing too much focus on diversity, and too little on inclusion We're proud to share these perspectives and engage with future leaders on how workplaces can evolve to support everyone.

📢 Promoting Equity and Belonging in the Future Workforce! Thank you so much Jennifer Brown 🙏🥇 We've become so much smarter about the DEI agenda and what really matters 🚀 💡 The call for equity is becoming increasingly urgent! To build a future that is more inclusive and fair, leaders with power and influence must actively disrupt the status quo and challenge unfair systems and behaviors 🎱 Creating equitable environments in workplaces and communities requires intentional efforts. This process often reveals our own prejudices and biases, compelling us to critically examine our roles in perpetuating inequities. While this work can be uncomfortable, discomfort is often a sign of true leadership. Inclusive leadership offers the crucial opportunity to reflect on how we contribute to existing systems and how we can drive positive change within them 🏆 When leaders show genuine and deliberate dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), they build trust within their organizations 🙌 This trust fosters a culture of inclusion, enabling employees from all identities, races, and backgrounds to thrive and feel a sense of belonging 🎵🎵🎵 How do we translate theory into practice??? Blanchard and Jennifer Brown have found the secret recipe, namely by developing the 'Courageous Inclusion' programme, which can be incorporated and linked directly to leadership development programmes 🎁 Note: Our podcast will be launched very soon 💥 #DEI #Inclusion #Diversity #Leadership #InclusiveLeadership #Belonging #JenniferBrown #CfL #EquityInAction #InclusionMatters #Equity #Leadershipdevelopment #blanchard #courageousinclusion
Reflecting on an incredible experience at Center for Leadership in Copenhagen… Last week I traveled to Denmark to deliver a keynote for the CfL - Bedre ledere. Bedre resultater., an association of 200 Danish businesses and organizations. Among many other programs, they provide Blanchard's Courageous Inclusion course, which I’m very proud to say was designed around my Inclusive Leader Continuum (https://lnkd.in/gbY3BHXd). The visionary team who brought me to speak - Pia Fuglsang Bach, Richard Asklund, and Lars Hemmingsen shared that Danish companies and leaders today are very invested in the topic of inclusive leadership, what it means for them in practice, and that they’re beginning to really ramp up their efforts. There was much palpable enthusiasm in the room, and many appreciative posts here on LinkedIn about the experience. Thank you for sharing what our dialogue meant to you, Annemette Hammer, Rikke Bräuner, Camilla Gulløv It didn’t hurt that the speaker before me is the female CEO of Denmark’s prominent public service media organization DR, Maria Rørbye Rønn who beautifully tee’d up my topic by sharing about how the organization is attempting to diversify its audiences and on-air talent to reflect and resonate with current and future audiences. She laid out the business case that made such intuitive sense, and provided me with a running start to share my thoughts. I learned so much about Denmark on my trip, and was truly moved by what I learned about the ways the country leads on health care and education for all, extremely progressive parental leave policies, and so much more. There is so much work to be done around the world on these topics. We even squeezed in a podcast recording while I was there - stay tuned for that :) Thank you, CfL, for your unwavering commitment to driving inclusive management and for hosting such a meaningful and impactful event. Your dedication to creating cultures of belonging where everyone can thrive is truly commendable. #DEI #Inclusion #Diversity #Leadership #InclusiveLeadership #Belonging #Copenhagen #TopManagementMeeting #JenniferBrown #EquityInAction #InclusionMatters

The new Springer Nature Group's Sustainable Business report, Open for Progress, has been released. Among the many takeaways, 𝘈𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘯 𝘊𝘭𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘦 for the Planet, 𝘈𝘥𝘷𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘋𝘪𝘴𝘤𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 in Publishing that you will find in the report, I’ll focus on a couple of points from 𝘜𝘯𝘭𝘰𝘤𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘗𝘰𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘢𝘭 for People: • Building an inclusive workplace: Women now make up 44% of our global leadership cohort (up 5 % points from 2018) plus a 50/50 gender split in our Management Board. • Introduction of our Employer Brand, 𝗕𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 with its three promises to put that employer brand in practice, 𝘉𝘦 𝘠𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧, 𝘚𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘵𝘤𝘩 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘩𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘻𝘰𝘯𝘴 and 𝘋𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘭𝘰𝘱 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘤𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘰𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘺. ✅I have experienced stretching my horizons first hand by being part of the SN Leader Programme aiming at building a shared leadership community and culture across our businesses.👍 ✅I have also joined the first SN Employer brand Ambassador programme which has helped me bring to life and witness what it means to work at the company every day and talk more about its culture, values and mission.😄 ✅I have not been the only one to develop my curiosity in 2023: 60 000 training hours were delivered via our online learning portal.😀 Take a look at the full report here: https://bit.ly/4aFUWc4 #BePartOfProgress #SNAmbassadors

𝗜𝘀 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗮 𝗺𝗮𝗻'𝘀 𝗷𝗼𝗯? 🤔 In the 100 largest family businesses in Germany, only 12.6 % of the management are female. And more than half of the large family businesses in Germany have no women on the management team. Things are only changing slowly, reports the AllBright Stiftung. 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗴𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: 𝗪𝗵𝘆? My opinion: we are making a mistake by associating masculinity with strength and femininity with sensitivity. Every person who goes through life successfully needs both. And: courageous decisions are neither masculine nor feminine. They are simply courageous. That's why Seaco has a coaching and mentoring program to support employees, that includes a cohort of young females in preparing them for leadership roles. Seaco is proud to encourage and support the promotion of women in management worldwide, whilst helping to raise awareness, and recognize the hard work and valuable contribution of women in logistics. In times of growing staff shortages, I don't think we can make any progress with an outdated understanding of roles. For me, responsibility is not a gender issue. The Hamburg-based retail group Otto Group shows how equal opportunities work. Until now, there has only been one woman on the six-member Executive Board. In spring 2025, two more will join: Petra Scharner-Wolff as CEO and Katy Roewer as CFO. A strong signal. #logistics #management #leadership #Seaco
