The future of FemTech in Swedish healthcare! 🧩 We are proud to share the important work Maya Callens and Maria Andersson has done in collaboration with Nordic Healthcare Group to contribute to the The Future of FemTech in Swedish healthcare. They completed their master's thesis from the Bioentrepreneurship program at Karolinska Institutet and passed with distinction with their study on how #FemTech; a growing sector in digital health technology, can be implemented in Sweden’s public healthcare system. Here are some highlighted challenges and opportunities from their work: Challenges 🔹Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) within FemTech often lack the incentives and resources to integrate with public healthcare. Only 20% of public procurements require proof of efficacy --> highlighting the need for stricter evaluation standards. 🔹Successful use of digital health technologies requires collaboration between patients and healthcare providers. However, without engagement from medical professionals and decision-makers, these technologies risk falling through the cracks. 🔹Concerns around data privacy and discrimination remain significant challenges, especially in an industry that is largely consumer-focused. Opportunities 🔸Having product advocates among healthcare professionals can be crucial in driving the adoption of FemTech. 🔸Starting in the private sector can provide a pathway into public healthcare. 🔸Collaboration with already established companies can provide the credibility and resources needed to scale up. FemTech has the potential to revolutionize healthcare for women, but to truly make a difference, we need to overcome the existing barriers and leverage the identified opportunities. Let’s work together to drive innovative FemTech solutions and bring them into Swedish healthcare! #healthcare #femtech #digitalhealth

Department of Health and Social Care's Medical Technology Strategy Review Time and time again innovative medical technology (medtech) has advanced our quality of care. As we look ahead to the next 75 years of the NHS and social care system, medtech has never been so important as a catalyst for change to improve patient outcomes. That is why, in February 2023, we published the government’s inaugural medtech strategy. This set out how, over the next 5 to 10 years, we will ensure the health and social care system can reliably access safe, effective and innovative technologies. These technologies will enable the delivery of high-quality care, outstanding patient safety and excellent health outcomes, while making the best use of taxpayer money. Technology has become an integral part of every industry and the same goes for the healthcare industry. However, a specific aspect of healthcare is much in need of revitalization; that is, the FemTech sector. This need to remake and revamp the industry has never been more urgent, as decades of neglect and underrepresentation have left women’s healthcare needs inadequately addressed. Hilla Shaviv, through her pioneering venture Gals Bio Ltd, is at the forefront of pushing the boundaries of what #femtech can achieve. Her work is ultimately about challenging and changing the very fabric of women’s healthcare. Her innovative diagnostic tool is a beacon of hope, signaling a shift towards a future where women’s health issues are no longer an afterthought but a central focus of healthcare innovation. #womenshealth https://lnkd.in/dQr4w-Cv

Building a value-first MedTech Community | Providing talent solutions for the most innovative, purpose driven & patient centric MedTech | Medical Device | Digital Health | Diagnostics & Healthcare organisations
I recently had some really nice feedback about Inside MedTech and during the conversation was asked what the motivation was behind starting it. To be honest, it was really simple. I wanted to create a value-led MedTech community. Each and every day I get to speak to so many amazing people, gain unique insight into our incredible industry and hear so many inspirational stories. It is also apparent that most of the challenges we face in MedTech and wider, in Healthcare, are consistent and felt throughout the market. With that in mind, I wanted to create a platform that would allow those inspirational stories and unique insights to be heard (even if it was a little out of my comfort zone to begin with). The feedback I have received to date has meant a lot and I will continue to try and add value through insights and remain grateful to work in such an impactful industry. Keep on making a difference MedTech! (Oh, and join us for our next event on Friday August 16th, 16.00 BST / 11.00 EST - link in comments) #medtech #insidemedtech #executiveleadership #healthcare

Delighted to attend the first edition of #HLTHEurope on behalf of Health Technology Catalyst | CTS. Day 1 was already very promising with meeting representatives from #healthtechecosystems in Danemark🇩🇰, Portugal🇵🇹, France🇫🇷, and Belgium🇧🇪. Key takeaways from the “Accessing the US” 🇺🇸 workshop: From the Healthcare System Head of Innovation : Give us an incentive to work with you as a startup: warrants, equity, revenue sharing agreement etc. We can also consider negotiating a cost recovery structure type of contract. When choosing a US based accelerator, look for coaching and advice capabilities but more importantly: Access. Can the accelerator give you access to your targeted healthcare systems? Hot topics of the moment: IA and Ops: there is a huge need to reduce physician time. Radiology and imaging are always winners. RPM platform and wearables are sought after as long as they don’t add to the already overburdened schedule of primary physicians. From the Corporate Attorney: Work on your 4 Rs: Regulatory, Reimbursement, Rights (PI), Readiness (for commercialisation). Create an American Advisory Board and give themstock options (after thorough vetting). Never forget to measure health economics in your pilot and get the results published and reviewed by peers so that you don’t suffer from pilotitis. More to share tomorrow!
