Our teachers from Jefferson Marine Science Elementary School and the Norwalk Early Childhood Center spent the first day back for teachers building connections, collaborating, communicating and critically thinking, which will be a major focus for our scholars this year as the district implements its new Portrait of a Graduate initiative. Teacher teams were given one package of balloons (not inflated), one roll of masking tape, and 20 minutes to build the tallest tower they could. Team members had to strategize a plan, communicate effectively and work together to win. Congratulations to the Yellow Team who built the tallest, free-standing structure that stayed up!

Teacher Appreciation Day is significant for honoring educators who nurture the minds of future leaders. It's a day to express gratitude towards teachers for their positive impact on students' including future leaders' lives. They are defined by emotional intelligence, adaptability, strategic thinking, and a commitment to continuous learning and growth. These qualities enable them to manage their own emotions, embrace change, see the bigger picture, and lead effectively through transformation.
On Teacher Appreciation Day, we honor the educators nurturing the minds of future leaders in classrooms across America. Before the bell rings, don’t forget to thank a teacher who has left a lasting, positive impact on you or your child’s life.

Standing with People rather than System with Matt Anderson Link - https://lnkd.in/dq8Sz2gc Matt Anderson is the youngest of six children. Growing up in Pittsburgh, he had a wide range of interests, including sports, arts, skateboarding, snowboarding, lacrosse, and outdoor activities like mountain biking and backpacking. During high school, he wasn't particularly interested in traditional academic subjects, and his focus was on creative and outdoor pursuits. His life took a different turn when he attended college in Montana, where he pursued his undergraduate degree and later a Master's in Social Work at the University of Montana. During this time, he developed a passion for learning, education, and politics. According to Matt, being a lobbyist or working in government affairs puts you in the interpersonal relations industry. It's not the job for you if you don't like what you're doing, it doesn't make you excited and motivated, and it doesn't let you use your creativity. You must genuinely enjoy interacting with and working with people. What, according to Matt, is crucial in a child's education to enhance their engagement with the government and its processes? What is the best advice Matt received about his work and personal values? What can we learn from Matt's 10-year experience as a lobbyist? What excites Matt about the future? Let's join Matt's personal journey in this new episode of State Lobbying Heroes! #governmentrelations #governmentaffairs #publicpolicy #lobbyists

At Brighton Our World, we often ponder an essential question: "Who will lead us tomorrow?" The answer lies in today's children, and our mission is to nurture these future leaders through compassion, community, and education. BOW is dedicated to building the leaders of tomorrow by instilling the values of generosity and service from a young age. Our programs, such as children helping children, not only teach kids how to give back but also the importance of empathy and understanding. These experiences are foundational in shaping thoughtful, proactive, and caring leaders who will navigate the challenges of the future with grace and determination. By supporting their growth through scholarships, educational initiatives, and community involvement, we ensure that these young minds receive the tools they need to succeed and make a difference. Our aim is not just to develop their academic skills but to foster a sense of responsibility and a commitment to making the world a better place. Join us as we invest in our children today, so they are ready to lead us into tomorrow.
