Today, as we celebrate the strength, resilience and achievements of women worldwide, it’s important to shed a light on an often-overlooked health reality: Lung cancer is the #1 cancer killer in women in the US, surpassing breast cancer. Yet, the awareness about this topic lags significantly behind, and the stigma remains prevalent. Many people are unaware of this statistic, and that silence can be as dangerous as the disease itself. How can we make a difference? - Advocate for regular health screenings and policies that promote lung health. - Share stories and resources to create a supportive community for those affected. At OncoSwab, our main mission is to simplify lung cancer detection, eliminating barriers that hinder prompt diagnosis. Happy International Women’s Day everybody 💪💜 #iwd #lungcancer #cancerscreening #startupjourney #femalefounder

February marks Cholangiocarcinoma Awareness Month. In 2021, my father was diagnosed with Stage 4 Cholangiocarcinoma. Within a week, he had passed. His battle, though brief, was devastating and eye-opening. The reality of how little is known about this cancer in the general community struck me hard. This has propelled me to take action, in his memory, to educate and inform as many people as I can about the disease. Cholangiocarcinoma is a silent threat, often going undetected until it's too late. We need more awareness, research, and conversations about this disease. You never know; the information you share could help save a life or support someone in their hour of need. Please take a moment to learn and share about Cholangiocarcinoma. Visit the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation's website for valuable information and help spread the word, not just during awareness month but year-round. https://lnkd.in/giVZYXqz #CholangiocarcinomaAwareness #CancerResearch #InMemoryOfDad
Spread awareness by educating your community about #cholangiocarcinoma. This year, we are advocating for a smoother journey to diagnosis for people impacted by cholangiocarcinoma – timely, decisive, and supported. It's time to be #BeClearOnCCA. You can download and print this one-page fact sheet from our website, curecca.org, to provide essential information about cholangiocarcinoma and the resources CCF offers. We encourage you to deliver this sheet to medical providers, cancer treatment facilities, health and community centers, and more to help us share resources with communities nationwide. #volunteersupport #greenforcca #curecca #ccahope #strengthincommunity

🎗️ Let's talk about a harsh reality: in underserved communities, breast cancer often leads to devastating outcomes due to late diagnosis and inadequate healthcare access. But together, we can change this narrative. At Rose Breast Health, we're committed to bringing awareness and resources to communities facing disproportionate challenges in breast health. We refuse to accept that lack of access should equate to loss of life. Join us in breaking down barriers to early detection and treatment. Knowledge is power, so let's spread awareness about the importance of regular screenings and self-examinations. No one should face breast cancer alone or without the necessary support. Together, let's ensure that everyone, regardless of their background or income levels , has access to the care they deserve. Together, we can save lives and make a difference. Spread the word, get involved, and let's work towards a future where breast cancer is no longer a sentence for underserved communities. #BreastCancerAwareness #HealthEquity 💕

Yesterday, I posted here about the search to figure out what's causing the alarming rise in early-onset colon cancer among Millennials and Gen Z--their risk of disease is much higher than their parents' risk. Today, I look at whether the healthcare system is doing enough to serve the needs of these younger cancer patients. A cancer diagnosis is life altering at any age, and every patient deserves quality, multidimensional care. But people in their 20s, 30s and 40s are in a very different place in life--perhaps starting a family, trying to get career liftoff, even caring for elderly parents. Their treatment plan must acknowledge their stage in life, and offer the right supports into survivorship. Read more in my latest for Bloomberg Opinion:
