Our energy grid is expected to see skyrocketing load demand, with data center power demand in the US alone on track to double from 2022 levels by 2030 (McKinsey). Meeting this demand with clean power and existing infrastructure will become increasingly difficult. Grid Enhancing Technologies (GETs) are hardware and software solutions that are deployed within existing transmission systems to help increase capacity, flexibility, and efficiency of power transfer. These GETs technologies have the potential of addressing the over $21B in estimated annual congestion cost for consumers. Powerhouse has mapped the GETs landscape in order to provide visibility to the different focus areas and highlight the major players in the field.
