Podcast People,
This month on Watt It Takes, I had the pleasure of speaking with John O'Donnell, Founder and Chief Innovation Officer of Rondo Energy. The Rondo Heat Battery powers industrial processes with renewable electricity, cutting energy costs and eliminating emissions.
I spoke to John about his journey; from his semiconductor work in the early days of computers, to the knowledge he gained from founding six startups, to how his interest and background in industrial solar heating led to his founding of Rondo Energy, a thermal heat storage company that employs more than 150 people across five continents, has raised $198 million in less than five years, and has partnered with companies like H&M, Rio Tinto, and Microsoft.
In our conversation John shared, “I can't do anything about politics. I can't do anything about regulatory things, but I can, as an engineer, put together a team and a product that can actually shift the needle in a very meaningful way.”
Tune in to my conversation with John via Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you listen. Special thanks to the Microsoft Climate Innovation Fund for making this episode possible.
Lastly, if you’ve listened to the past few episodes you know that Powerhouse’s annual party, New Dawn, is coming up in less than two weeks on Thursday, October 24th in Oakland. The party is now officially sold out, but you can get on the waitlist as we always have last minute cancellations. If you already have tickets, you are all set to attend the hottest event of the year with those keeping the climate cool. Thank you to our Terawatt level sponsors, Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati and Silicon Valley Bank, for helping us get the party started.
Happy Listening,
Emily Kirsch
