“No country can ever truly flourish if it stifles the potential of its women and deprives itself of the contributions of half of its citizens.” -Michelle Obama
With well over a century of history and change, the first #InternationalWomensDay (IWD) was held in March 1911. IWD isn't country, group or organization specific. It's a day of collective global activism and celebration that belongs to all those committed to forging women's equality. When we inspire others to understand and value women's inclusion, we forge a better world.
In honor of International Women's Day this past week, there are many ways to ensure the needs, interests and aspirations of women and girls are valued and included. Organizations and groups can #InspireInclusion through action in areas such as:
• Recruiting, retaining and developing female talent
• Supporting women and girls into #leadership, decision-making, business and STEM
• Providing women and girls with access to quality education and training
• Elevating women and girl's participation and achievement in sport
Check out a great TED Talk below on how we all can support girls, early in life, to be more confident and courageous! Give it a watch and pass it on to your colleagues and friends raising young women. https://lnkd.in/g-ffb6p7#iwd2024

Inspiring change on Bengaluru's roads since 2016!
Today, I'm celebrating the trailblazing women bus drivers who are reshaping our city's transport landscape. These courageous women, like Prema Ramappa Nadapatti, are not just driving buses – they're driving change and breaking stereotypes.
Key takeaways:
a. Women excel in traditionally male-dominated roles
b. Diversity in public transport enhances safety and inclusivity
c. Support and training are crucial for empowering women in new fields
d. Their determination inspires me to challenge norms in my own career.
How can we support more women in unconventional roles?

Let's champion gender diversity across all professions!

In the bustling heart of the city, there existed a small community that was often overlooked. However, within this community lived a group of girls whose actions and spirits were anything but ordinary. They exemplified courage, kindness, and resilience in ways that left an indelible mark on those who had the fortune of knowing them. This lesson delves into the incredible deeds of these girls, highlighting the profound impact that even the smallest acts of goodness can have on the world around us.
💧𝗨𝗻𝘄𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗞𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀:
Despite facing numerous personal challenges, these girls consistently demonstrated kindness to everyone they met. Whether it was through simple gestures like sharing their lunch with a classmate or volunteering at local shelters, their empathy and compassion were boundless.

These girls naturally emerged as leaders within their community. They organized events, led awareness campaigns, and inspired others to join their causes. Their ability to rally people together for a common good showcased their exceptional leadership qualities.
💧𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆:
Life threw many obstacles their way, but these girls never wavered. Their resilience in the face of hardship was nothing short of inspiring. They taught their peers the importance of perseverance and maintaining a positive outlook, no matter the circumstances.

One year back as I embarked on this journey of being selected out of the 500+ applications globally to serve as a #mentor at GWNET: Global Women's Network for the Energy Transition I never thought it could be a transformative experience for myself.
A few lessons I myself have learnt which I feel worth sharing:
✅ Having a mentor in life is not just important but essential
✅ Setting goals in life is crucial for growth
✅ The challenge could be small for you but the same challenge could be as big as a boulder for the mentee
✅ Embracing the diversity of experiences and adapting
✅ Embracing the journey with both ups and downs is key to personal and career development
✅ Impostor Syndrome is very much real
✅ Adopting an attitude of being grateful for all the people, situations, things and experiences shapes up who you become
My heartfelt thanks to GWNET: Global Women's Network for the Energy TransitionNatália Weber and Luyen Vu for your trust and faith in me as in the entire process I loved who I have become with this exchange 💞
Feeling deeply grateful for this beautiful and enriching relationship and creating the video 🙏🙏🙏
Looking forward to continuing more such collaborations to contribute and postively impact lives

Women are underrepresented in areas critical to innovation, including STEM fields, politics, and C-suites. What all these areas have in common is that success requires risk-taking and bravery.
Why is it so important to encourage girls to embrace imperfection and be brave? Reshma Saujani, the founder of Girls Who Code, explains in this TED Talk why she has taken up the charge to socialise young girls to take risks (and learn to program!).

On International Women's Day, let's remember that empowering and supporting women begins with nurturing and empowering girls.
Let's start by teaching them to be brave.
Reshma Saujani's TED Talk, "Teach girls bravery, not perfection," offers a powerful perspective on how we can inspire bravery in young girls.
