SNAP benefits support better outcomes for students who are food-insecure. Studies found that students living in food-secure households were nearly 60% less likely to be absent from school when compared to their food-insecure peers. #SNAPShot #FarmBill

"The US has endured an average of 1.5 mass shootings every day so far this year, data shows" -Gun Violence Archive Now are we ready to not only push and sell safety by environmental design, but get to root causes? Legislation? Not to have unfunded mandates that school districts can't possibly keep up with? Have real true Behavioral Threat Assessment that services will actually keep up with and support? Address culture, climate, mental health, etc.? PREVENTION not reaction. This is 4 dead and 9 injured so far. And a 14 year old child is responsible. What was missed? What were the signs? 1.5 a day so far this year shows us one thing, we need to try something else. https://lnkd.in/g8mTwvMP

For those not following Gov. Blowdry’s pet projects so closely, the “Yes on One” campaign is yet another effort to drive our deeply-indebted state another $6 1/2 billion into the red. For what? Well, as our mediocre newspaper reports today, it will buy “treatment beds” for 10,000 of the couple hundred thousand (and let’s just for now assume this obvious lowball is a legit number) mentally ill, drug addicted homelesss (at least that’s what the cited UCSF study concludes they are). No mention of what this new debt will do for the other 95% of these people, no mention of the vastly-increased supply of deadly narcotics streaming into California over the open border Blowdry fully supports, and no obituary for the folly we’ve been fed for 40 years that the homeless are just regular folks who’ve hit a temporary bump in the road and just need a little help to get back their professional lives back on track. #dexleads

Patron, Chair, Board Member, International Motivational Speaker (Inc TEDx), CEO, Specialist in Solar Energy, Sustainability, Social Entrepreneurship, Violence Reduction & Youth Empowerment.
Violence that impacts youth is a major issue and is a enormous societal problem underpinned by multiple causes and it is important to address these underlying causes through a combination of measures, including education, social support, community programs, and police efforts, to prevent and reduce knife crime the multiagency approach is fully necessary and a mutual understanding between each is necessary for that to happen. The third sector is critical in fitting in the middle of the public services and members of the public. As a society we really need massive reforms and interventions to address all the casual factors such as poverty, inequality, racism and discrimination, lack of opportunities, social and family exclusion. Young people need to be loved. I welcome the ban of zombie knives as it was simple too easy to access these types of knives: The easy availability of knives facilitated knife crime for too long. This alone is not the solution and there is so much more to do. At The Safety Box CIC we take it very seriously and fight for children to stay safe and protected, even when it’s hard for the public sector to do what they need to do due to budget constraints. I was deeply touched when a distraught mother reached out to us, tears streaming down her face 😭, unsure if her son would become another victim of violence. It broke my heart to see the lack of appropriate support available to her child. I couldn't ignore her desperate plea for help, which is why I decided to take action and launch a fundraiser. Our goal is to provide the necessary interim support and resources to ensure the safety and well-being of this child until they can find an appropriate move. I humbly request the support and assistance of all my friends and associates in this endeavor. Together, we can make a significant difference in the life of this vulnerable young person. Your contribution, no matter how small, will have a profound impact on their present and future. Let us come together as a community to show compassion and provide the support that is desperately needed. Join us in this important project and let's change a life for the better. https://gofund.me/c7db675f
The CEO of The Safety Box, Nathaniel Peat, took to the stage today to speak about the new legislation to ban Zombie knives from our streets. His impassioned, poised conversation on GB Breakfast News shed light on the strategies that need to be implemented around the ban. There has been an alarming rise in knife-related incidents involving Zombie knives in recent years. These menacing weapons, characterised by their distinctive and often gruesome designs, have become a cause for concern among police and communities nationwide. Nathaniel’s remarks on GB Breakfast News were met with widespread support from viewers and the public. Many expressed their agreement with his call for action and praised his efforts to bring attention to this pressing issue. The Safety Box CEO’s passionate advocacy for public safety resonated with individuals who are deeply concerned about the rising knife crime rates and the devastating impact it has on communities. The exploitation of children for labor is a complex and evolving issue, but together we can make a difference! In 2023 alone, we reached 208,947 minors with prevention education and trained 3,484 educators to equip children to stay safe and avoid trafficking. Today, there are an estimated 3.3 million children trapped in forced labor, making up 12% of all forced labor cases. Many are found in domestic work, agriculture, manufacturing industries, and more. Let's work together to prevent exploitation and protect our children's freedom! We can only do this with you. Invest in the freedom of children and our child trafficking prevention effort by visiting A21.org/Give. #EndChildExploitation #PreventionEducation #FreedomForAll

Let’s go. Let’s put our brains together to come up with ideas. Let’s use social media for something other than complaining. What if we stop relying on someone else to do something? What if we think smaller? What if we get off our phones, look up, see the people around us, TALK and work together to make something happen as a neighborhood and not a nation? This isn’t about politics. This is about KIDS. Period. What if we just vowed to protect the kids? If we decided we’re not going to let it go this time? If we started simply with protecting the schools? If we decided to change the safety at your neighborhood schools? If we stopped waiting for someone else to do the work? I’d gladly take a bullet while walking outside the school as part of a parent-guardian patrol, if it meant we could save one child from dying. What if we got more involved?

We are aware of the recent case in the UK of horrific cat abuse linked to homicide. Due to the graphic nature of this, we won't be posting details. This link between violence towards people and animals is what our 'Protect Animals. Protect People' campaign is all about. As a society, we have known about this for over 250 years, yet it is not still not fully embedded in public protection strategy. That's why we are shining a light through making submissions to Parliament (as we did in the Online Safety Bill inquiry) and training police and prosecutors. Read more about what we're doing here: https://lnkd.in/eFtu5Rzn #BreakingTheLink, together.

Motivational Speaker / Highway Safety Advocate / Youth Outreach & Empowerment / Turning What If into What Now
The Tori Lynn Andreozzi Foundation hosts a series of community forums in which victims, highway safety professionals, legislators, prevention specialists, prosecutors, members of law enforcement, and the public discuss ways to make the roadways in Rhode Island safer by eliminating impaired driving. Rhode Island is a small state with a big problem, having a higher percentage of death and serious injuries than the national average. Yet, these crashes are 100% preventable. The Community Conversation was born out of the anger and grief residents felt following two high profile crashes which resulted in the deaths of young adults in neighboring communities. While the pain and need “to do something” was evident, so too was the lack of understanding regarding the magnitude of the problem, the process and the steps that could be taken to address this issue. It is our hope that through awareness, education, and common-sense solutions we can work together to eliminate the carnage on our roads once and for all. Have the Conversation. You’ll be glad you did. #eliminateimpaireddriving #highwaysafety #havetheconversation
