One of the pivotal moments that drove my pursuit of a career in the armed forces was in my high school AP US History class, I asked my teacher how was it that the US had been so successful when it was only a couple centuries old whereas so many other countries that had been established for so much longer were nowhere as powerful or stable? Without missing a beat, she responded “the fact that we have a new government every four years and the diversity of our people.”
Digesting this concept, we come to understand that the diversity fuels innovation that challenge preexisting notions and a systematic government overhaul carried out through democratic processes enables rational change to occur, with a balanced amount of constitutional conservativism to ensure our nation’s security.
These principles have guided our nation through tumultuous times. Although it’s hard to accept, at points throughout our history, the majority often argued in favor of unethical practices including the enslavement of other human beings, the sanctioned displacement of native populations from their homes, the prohibition of women’s suffrage, segregation (and sanctioned severe mistreatment) of non-white Americans, to list a few - all ideas into which the majority were indoctrinated. Although we had our hiccups, in all listed cases, we grew together as a nation based on objectively challenging those ideas and asking the hard questions: Does this really make sense? Is this fair? Would I be ok if I (or worse, my child) were born into that situation?
I strongly believe in the principles upon which my country stands and have faith that we will always come to the right ethical conclusion on all issues independent of predispositions in due time. It is our civic duty to stay informed, to keep asking hard questions, and to drive reaching the morally correct outcomes. “For in the final analysis, our most common link is that we inhabit this small planet. We all breathe the same air. We all cherish our children’s futures. And we are all mortal.”
Happy Veterans Day.
Today in America a form of history is made. The world is watching, not just the United States of America. After the deliberation and a decision is made, the world will move accordingly in future decisions when it comes to the United States of America.
A closed chapter is not a disservice to the world, it is a clear path paved for future generations. Throughout history struggle has been romanticized, portraying that a journey through hardships is the ultimate mark of success...
We are here to rewrite the narrative and dismental systems and practices that foster exploitation and injustice. For future generations. In this present moment, we stand against the struggles our forefathers faced in the past.

Black Americans continue to break significant barriers in our society but still endure systemic obstacles that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and other leaders involved in the Civil Rights Movement were devoted to fighting against. Despite these hindrances, Black Americans persevere, remain steadfast and work to shape the future of this country. Yet, there remains a struggle for relevance, a sense of belonging and ownership of this nation.
I stood before a crowd at the 60th Anniversary of the #MarchOnWashington for Jobs and Freedom to address the varied courses of action we can take to achieve equality. It goes beyond advocating for diversity, equity and inclusion. We must broaden our focus to include economic justice – and we can do this by providing opportunities for prosperity and investing in the infinite potential of future generations.
We must build the economic infrastructure needed to bridge the #racialwealthgap. And it is up to us to invest in #education, digital #technology and the talent pipeline to help close opportunity gaps that affect Black Americans, including the #generationalwealthgap.

On September 11, 2001, the world witnessed one of the most devastating acts of terrorism in modern history. The coordinated attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City and the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., claimed the lives of nearly 3,000 innocent people. The impact of 9/11 was profound, not only in terms of the lives lost but also in shaping global politics and security measures. It served as a wake-up call, highlighting the vulnerability of nations and the importance of international cooperation in combating terrorism. The memory of 9/11 continues to evoke a sense of loss, resilience, and the ongoing struggle for peace.
As we reflect on the anniversary of September 11th, we continue to remember the lives that were taken and honor the first responders and countless others who displayed immense courage and sacrifice. We will never forget.
