June marks Pride Month, a month dedicated to celebrating LGBTQ+ communities worldwide. The fact that we celebrate in June is not insignificant - it coincides with the date of the 1969 Stonewall riots, widely credited as the catalyst of the Queer Liberation movement. Many countries have made great strides towards LGBTQ+ equality - but this has not been a globally consistent, or linear, path. Many Queer people are still subject to immense discrimination and injustice, and many Governments have or are seeking to introduce legislation which will roll back some of the progress that has been made towards equality - including in some of OC&C’s geographies. It is for this reason that we commemorate Pride - to celebrate the progress we have made as a society, but also to raise awareness of the inequality and discrimination LGBTQ+ people face daily. At OC&C, we look forward to hearing from our colleagues and clients about their journeys as LGBTQ+ people, and fundraising for our charity partner Just Like Us as well as other charities.
