𝐀𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐢𝐧 𝐛𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞? 🧘 ⚙️A few weeks I talked about the importance of balancing short-term gains against doing the right thing long-term in the context of marketing vs. price & promotion investments, but also vs. loyalty investments. What I call the secret triangle 3️⃣ of balancing your investments into the consumer / customer P&L. 🏅 I recently saw a documentary about 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤 𝐂𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐡 - an Olympic medallist and former road race world champion 🚵 who has celebrated a record-breaking 35 stage wins at the Tour de France. After an injury (something like an external shock in the business world) he needed to fight his way back to the top. As he wasn't seeing his performance improved fast enough, he started to lose weight (as watts per kg is the key metric in road racing) and entered a 𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐥𝐲 𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐚𝐥 as he wasn't doing the right thing long-term. 💡 And it stroke me that the importance of '𝘣𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦' is not just importance in the context of marketing, but equally when you think about 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐫 / 𝐜𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐥𝐨𝐲𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐲 (and I bet in a lot more business situations). See below our recent article on '𝘨𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘣𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘣𝘦𝘵𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘭𝘰𝘺𝘢𝘭𝘵𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘨𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘶𝘮𝘦𝘳 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘵𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘳𝘦𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘭'. 🔜 Later this week I will post some observations of the 𝐆𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧 market context. 📲 Please reach to John Franklin, Ludwig Voll or myself for more insights and an open discussion about the opportunities for you.
