How many more Law Enforcement Officers must be physically attacked, shot at, shot or killed before action is taken to end this “War On Cops?” How many Officers need to be driven from the profession due to injuries from attacks or from the constant barrage of hatred aimed at them? How many Officers must die and how many folded flags must be handed to their widows, widowers, children, or parents before we get serious about defending our Officers against the lies of activists and certain politicians who fuel distrust and hatred against Officers? When will we take on criminals and crime head on while fighting to fix the Criminal Justice System that has been shattered over the last several years? At no time in the last 60 years has the Law Enforcement Profession needed stronger and more committed leaders then now who are willing to speak the truth the the political powers and the community, build relationships of trust and respect with the law abiding and true members of their communities, properly-recruit-train-develop-retain Officers, develop and implement proactive crime fighting strategies, and push District Attorney’s for prosecutions and convictions and Judges for proper sentencing. Law Enforcement Leaders encouraging de-policing by not engaging in traffic enforcement or quality of life criminal violations in order to make a small segment of society happy or putting on more “Cookies with Rookies” events will not fix this. Elected "leaders" in Colorado are trying to outlaw one of the most important tools an officer has to take a violent/combative subject into custody as safely as possible. Here is an excerpt from the bill (CO HB 24-1372): "The bill prohibits peace officers from using prone restraint to subdue a subject, except in cases in which the use of deadly physical force is justified." What they are proposing makes policing more dangerous than it already is, both for the officers out there trying to protect their communities, and for the criminals that are terrorizing those same communities. Her Bite Was Bigger than Her Bark! New York City Councilwoman Susan Zhuang has been charged with assault after allegedly biting a uniformed NYPD Chief during a violent protest. The confrontation took place after residents were upset over the proposed construction of a "men's shelter" in their community. Here, we simply have another example of misguided, emotionally enraged people who feel emboldened to harm Law Enforcement rather than handle issues at the ballot box or through other peaceful means. Lessons Learned: 1. Police ENFORCE laws made by elected officials. 2. Police do NOT make laws. 3. Civics is ABUNDENTLY neglected in the classroom. 4. Civics is CLEARLY tossed aside by grown adults. 5.
