𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐨 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐛𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞: 𝐓𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐋𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐎𝟐 𝐏𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬! Following a recent article in Euronews 📰 , it is evident that despite renewed policy interest and ambitious future targets, current limits on CO2 fluids are overly stringent, leading to excessive cost to purify and transport CO2. This is disrupting the adoption of CCUS, hindering progress to UK and EU climate targets. Clearer and more achievable purity standards are essential to make CCUS economically viable for industry. 🔍 OGC Energy recognised this issue two years ago and initiated a new project called DECIDE (DEfine CO₂ Impurities: Decrease Emissions). This experimental lab-based project aims to address the challenges related to CO2 impurities.
