via Stockhead Latin Resources Limited, yesterday reported a whopping 56% increase in the global resource at its Salinas #lithium project in Brazil to 70.3Mt at 1.27% Li2O. The project’s Colina deposit resource has increased by 41% and a maiden resource has been announced for Fog’s Block – reported at 6.8Mt at 0.9% Li2O inferred for a combined global mineral resource of now 70.3Mt at 1.27% of Li2O. Smack bang in the lithium-rich Bananal Valley region of the pro mining state of Minas Gerais, Colina is a direct neighbour to Sigma Lithium’s (TSXV:SGML) 766,000tpa Grota do Cirilo project, which entered production earlier this year. via Stockhead With the Bald Hill lithium mine just 600m away to the east, it’s easy to see why Torque Metals considers New Dawn ripe for #lithium prospectivity across the two mining licenses. Exploration in the last few months has identified multiple pegmatite targets at New Dawn, with the junior recently completing a 21-hole maiden #drill program that included 19 RC and two diamond holes showing peak lithium hits of up to a whopping 35 meters (cumulative) of lithium mineralised pegmatites including 10m @ 1.51% Li2O, from 51m with 1m @ 3.99% Li2O. A flurry of news is expected from the #ASX junior in the near future regarding its ongoing intensive exploration campaigns as it works towards a maiden resource estimate for lithium for the New Dawn project. Industrial Minerals Ltd's previous RC #drilling program informed a Maiden High Purity #Quartz Exploration Target at the Pippingarra Quarry Project, located in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. #IND's exploration target of 1.5-3Mt @ 97-99% SiO₂ is adjacent to the existing pit, with the initial testwork returning low impurity results from standard HPQ flowsheet >99.994% SiO₂. Further #HPQ targets have been identified from surface mapping and historical drilling across the Mining Lease. Since Kombat’s rebirth, geologists were eyeing significant surface mineralisation at an area about 15km east of the active mining licence and the historic mining town of Kombat.   The area was known as Schlangental, a key prospect within the wider Kombat property.     According to Jed Richardson, Trigon’s CEO and Executive Chairman, there were reports of historical drilling that indicated mineralisation continued at depth, but no cores or detailed logs were available.   Trigon started planning to drill more than 36 holes totalling 4000m in the area they refer to as the Copper King Extension. The first two holes have now been drilled at Schlangental, and both holes intercepted mineralisation at modest depths.     The mineralisation was largely chalcocite (sulfide) and malachite (oxide) with associated higher-than-average silver compared to the main mineral resource at the Kombat mine and compared to the bornite and chalcopyrite copper sulfides predominant at the Kombat mine.   “Given the encouraging start, deeper drilling will now be undertaken to confirm if this pattern continues in the new area,” says Richardson. First Class Metals PLC (LSE:FCM) have updated on its exploration progress at the high-priority Dead Otter trend within their North Hemlo property. Sites were stripped of overburden to allow samples to be extracted in the vicinity of the previous 19 g/t Au rock chip sample. "The exploration work on the Dead Otter trend continues to deliver positive results, visually the channels cut show that the 19 grammer is potentially not an isolated high-grade occurrence. Empire Metals Ltd (AIM:EEE) has announced the discovery a new, near-surface titanium dioxide mineral deposit, comprised of rutile and anatase, at the Pitfield Project in Western Australia. The junior has already reported significant titanium mineralisation from bedrock drilling of its Cosgrove and Thomas targets, but said this is a new easily accessible high-value deposit. Shaun Bunn, managing director, added: "This is a game-changing development for Empire and one which is expected to accelerate timescales and further enhance the economics of Pitfield. “This new discovery has been formed by the originally titanite-rich, near-surface bedded sandstones being strongly weathered over time by "Mother Nature" to form rutile and anatase, creating a completely new, discreet high-grade saprolite-hosted deposit, sitting above the giant, titanite-dominant, fresh bedrock deposit.
