Happy World Plant Milk Day! Do you factor sustainability into the milk you use, or the milk(s) provided at your office coffee station or cafe/restaurant? Do you have a favorite? It's no surprise that cow's milk is far less sustainable than all the plant milks available, but which plant milk is the most sustainable? There is some variation in the data available when additional factors are applied like land use and deforestation, GMOs, pesticides, packaging, and transporation to the consumer; but we started with water use and emissions in production. Climate action challenge: switch to a more sustainable milk. #worldplantmilkday #plantmilk #plantmylk #climateaction #themoreyouknow #climateactionchallenge

In its many varieties, tea is renowned as one of the world’s most consumed beverages, second only to water. Like many other agricultural crops, tea production impacts the environment: Production in tropical countries is implicated in deforestation, pollution and impacts on fragile biodiversity. Climate change imperils the tea industry, threatening to reduce yields and hammer millions of smallholder farmers who derive their livelihood from the crop. Experts say circular solutions can help build resilience in tea production against climate change, while at the same time lessening its environmental impact. Sustainability in the food chain Making the food chain more sustainable primarily requires transparency in the chain. After all, you want to know whether measures stick. Mapping actual feed and farm data per location is essential for emission reductions. By bringing together Sustell from dsm-firmenich and PoultryNEXT from Agrifirm, we offer a solution to monitor emissions via closed data systems and ultimately reduce CO2. https://ow.ly/ShOb50Sp0pp It can be done #alreadytoday #dsmfirmenich #regenerative #poultrynext

Chief Corporate Affairs Officer at The HEINEKEN Company | Leading Future-Focused Sustainable Strategies and Organizational Transformation | Advocating and Implementing Forward-Thinking Responsible Corporate Practices
"The way we produce and eat food causes 30% of the world's greenhouse gas emissions, uses over 70% of the world's freshwater, and is responsible for 80% of the deforestation and habitat loss in tropical areas," says Mariam Almheiri. The food and beverage industry is a great place to start if we want to create a more sustainable world. Re-structuring the food & bev industry to be more sustainable won't be a simple or quick process. It'll be complex and will need to address multiple problems at once, like reducing carbon emissions, reducing waste, and embracing water stewardship. But just because it will be complex doesn't mean it's not worth doing. I'd suggest looking at this article if you want to know some of the major commitments corporations are making toward improving sustainability. #ESG #CarbonEmissions #CorporateResponsibility

## From Field to Fork: The Power of Sustainable Grain Production 🌾🌎 The global demand for grains is soaring, but we can't afford to compromise on sustainability. The way we produce grains has a profound impact on our planet and the future of food security. Sustainable grain production is essential for: * Environmental Protection: Minimizing water usage, reducing pesticide and fertilizer use, and protecting biodiversity preserves our natural resources for future generations. * Climate Change Mitigation: Adopting regenerative agriculture techniques, like no-till farming, sequesters carbon in the soil and helps combat climate change. * Economic Viability: Sustainable practices enhance soil health, improve yields, and reduce input costs, leading to a more resilient and profitable agricultural sector. * Social Responsibility: Fair labor practices, responsible land management, and community engagement ensure equitable and sustainable food systems for all. Let's invest in innovative solutions and collaborative efforts to transform the grain industry into a force for good. Together, we can ensure a sustainable future for food production and a healthy planet for all. #agriculture #grains #sustainability #foodsecurity #environment #climatechange #regenerativeagriculture #linkedin

3w15 years ago, I switched from cow's milk to almond milk. Then I learned about how much water it took to produce and the devastating impact on bee populations, and I switched to oat milk. I've switched again, to soy milk. The impact may be small, because I only drink milk in my coffee, but it's one of hundreds of decisions I make every day with a cumulative environmental impact that was easy to change.
