⚠️ India has issued over 300 notifications since January 2020 to promote food safety, protect animals and plant health, and maintain the quality of products in the markets, according to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India data. These notifications are issued under Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures (SPS) and Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT). Both are allowed under the World Trade Organisation (WTO) rules. SPS is used by countries to set out basic rules for food safety and animal and plant health requirements. On the other hand, TBT deals with voluntary and mandatory standards and procedures to maintain the quality of products in the markets. When these regulations impose an unnecessary burden on trade, then they become non-tariff barriers (NTBs). The data showed that as many as 62 SPS and 247 TBT notifications were issued by India since January 2020. --- 🚀 Follow Foodkida to get FSSAI-related posts in your LinkedIn feed. 🔄 Repost, if you found this post valuable. 📲 You will get food technology updates in this WhatsApp group: https://lnkd.in/gVWJv6QR

Halal products are becoming popular among non-Muslims for several reasons, with health and safety being primary factors. Halal certification ensures that products meet strict hygiene and quality standards, which is appealing to health-conscious consumers. The emphasis on cleanliness and purity in Halal processing resonates with those who prioritize healthy eating and food safety. The ethical considerations of Halal production are attractive to a broad audience. The Halal process involves humane treatment of animals and ethical sourcing, which aligns with the values of many non-Muslim consumers who are concerned about animal welfare and sustainable practices. This ethical dimension of Halal products makes them a preferred choice for people seeking responsible consumption options. The influence of globalization and multiculturalism also plays a significant role. As people become more exposed to diverse cultures and cuisines, there is a growing curiosity and acceptance of different dietary practices. 💚 𝘑𝘰𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘰𝘯 𝘞𝘢𝘴𝘢𝘣𝘪𝘩! Thought Leader in Customs Compliance & Risk Management. On a Mission to Make Business Simpler & Easier and Improve Commercial Performance for Import/Export Manufacturers, Freight Forwarders and Logistics Companies.
THE CURRENT LIST OF HIGH-RISK FOOD AND FEED OF NON-ANIMAL ORIGIN (HRFNAO) WILL BE AMENDED FROM 7TH MARCH 2024. Part 3 BANNED PRODUCTS: There are no changes. Dried beans from Nigeria for food use continue to be banned from import into Great Britain. IMPORTING HRFNAO FROM EU COUNTRIES INTO GREAT BRITAIN Please ensure you are familiar with the new requirements for importing HRFNAO from the EU into GB – https://lnkd.in/e6rywKPr If you have imported HRFNAO into the EU and had full CHED-D checks at the EU border and you simply store the products in the EU without further processing (note: repackaging does not count as processing) before shipping them to GB, you will need to go through the process again at the GB border (CHED-D on IPAFFS with required documentation, and sampling). For example, if you import Dried Figs from Turkey into the Netherlands (CHED-D, health certificate, results report) and receive full clearance, and then export some/all of this consignment to GB you will need to create a GB CHED-D on IPAFFS, submit an original Netherlands issued health certificate along with a copy of test results for aflatoxin as well as commercial documentation to port health. From 30 April 2024, port health will check these documents and will conduct sampling at the frequency laid down in UK legislation. #VARTAN #Imports #IPAFFS #CHED #EU #UK #HRFNAO
