Transforming Black Friday into a Day of Giving Black Friday: A New Perspective on Generosity Take a read of what Charitable Travel are saying..... This Black Friday, a day fast becoming synonymous with incredible deals and shopping sprees, it's time to pause and reconsider how this day can be about more than just consumerism. Imagine transforming Black Friday into a powerful opportunity for giving back, making a positive impact with every purchase you make. Shopping with a Purpose - The concept is simple yet profound: when you shop on Black Friday, choose brands and stores that pledge a portion of their sales to charitable causes. Whether it's supporting environmental initiatives, aiding in social welfare, or contributing to educational programs, your shopping can become a means of supporting important causes. The Joy of Giving - 1. Empowering Communities: Many brands collaborate with non-profits and charities that work towards community development and empowerment. By shopping with these brands, you contribute to projects that uplift underprivileged communities. 2. Supporting Sustainability: Eco-friendly brands often use Black Friday sales to raise awareness and funds for environmental conservation. Purchasing from such brands means contributing to the protection of our planet. 3. Enhancing Education: Some businesses focus on educational initiatives, donating a part of their Black Friday earnings to fund education for underprivileged children, literacy programs, and school improvement projects. How to Participate in 'Giving Back Friday' 1. Research Before You Shop: Look for companies that have a history of charitable giving and transparent donation practices. Check their websites and social media for information on their Black Friday giving campaigns. 2. Seek Ethical Brands: Prioritise shopping from ethical brands that not only donate profits but also adhere to fair trade practices and sustainable manufacturing. 3. Spread the Word: Use your social media platforms to promote #GiveBackFriday. Share information about brands that are participating and encourage your network to shop responsibly. 4. Consider Direct Donations: In addition to shopping, consider making direct donations to charities and causes you care about. Many organisations have special Black Friday fundraising campaigns. The Bigger Picture Transforming Black Friday into a day of giving back is more than a trend; it’s a movement towards conscious consumerism. It’s about finding a balance between getting great deals and making a positive impact in the world. This Black Friday, let's shift our focus from merely acquiring more to giving more, creating a ripple effect of generosity and compassion. *This Black Friday, let your shopping be a force for good. Together, we can turn a day of deals into a day of giving and gratitude.* Join Charitable Travel and make #BlackFridayBetter #GiveBackFriday Social Enterprise UK Social Enterprise Mark CIC

❓ Question of the week: Can only true do-gooders give to charity? With activists' pressure mounting, both Hay and the Edinburgh international book festivals have cut ties with their main sponsor, the investment firm Baillie Gifford. Activists were trying to pressure the investment firm to divest from fossil fuels rather than the festivals reneging their sponsorships. But this never happened (and would never have given the timeframes). This raises some interesting questions: How can charities use tainted money? And if too much of that tainted money is turned away, how many charities will go bust? Read more in the article below! #festivals #charities #divestingfromfossilfuels #protests #books #literature https://lnkd.in/eWVzFm28

We can learn a lot about pricing from Glastonbury Festival ticket sales. The tickets sold out in less than an hour as there was huge demand for them. Based on supply and demand, the festival organisers could have charged a lot more for the tickets and still sold them all. But this wouldn’t be aligned with their mission/strategy. Their ethos is to make the festival as accessible as possible to a diverse audience. Much higher prices could conflict with this principle by making the festival less accessible to a broader demographic. As a non-profit, whilst higher prices could result in more funds for charity, they need to balance generating income with the potential negative consequences of higher prices, like decreased public goodwill and accessibility. Whilst Glastonbury is extremely popular, there’s a price point beyond which even most loyal fans may balk. And this risks the festival end up being restricted to only those that can afford the higher prices. The festival market is competitive, and attendees might opt for other festivals if they feel Glastonbury becomes too expensive. The key messsge here is that pricing needs to be aligned with the overall strategy. Pricing needs a strategy! #financialcoach #glastonburyfestival #pricing #pricingstrategy

Important Pricing Information. We've had quite a few queries recently regarding buying tickets for this year's festival so I wanted to clarify a few things. We do *not* have a ticket for the whole festival - each event and activity is priced individually. This is for two reasons: *Firstly, the capacities for each venue vary so some are small - so if there was one ticket for everything, some people might be disappointed if an event became full. *Secondly, we want to account for everyone’s budget - so if someone’s budget is low, the festival is still accessible and they can work towards their own budget. The vast majority of talks and activities are £8.50. Some activities are Pay What You Can (including our Sunday evening finale) and we have put on quite a few free events that anyone can attend and do not need a ticket. These are the Poetry Hub in The Avenue (Saturday), in the Bandstand (all weekend), Writing on the Beach (Saturday) and our Genre Breakfast and mealtime networking events (these are free to attend but we do encourage you to support our local cafes and restaurants). On the website, each talk and activity has a yellow "Book Here" button to take you through to our ticketing partner payment portal, which is the Pavilion Dance website. Please note, not all events and activities take place at the Pavilion Dance so please check the location of the activity or event. The Pavilion Dance is a charity and at the checkout will ask you if you'd like to include a donation. This is solely for the Pavilion Dance and no donations will be given to the Writing Festival. Here is a short explainer video I did on our YouTube channel: https://lnkd.in/e_6vZrrp Hope that helps, and look forward to seeing you in Bournemouth on the 26th, 27th and 28th April. #writingcommunity #amwriting #writingsupport #writerslife #writingfestival #bournemouth #dorsetlife

You might not be aware of this but, the prominence of Puerto Rican music is staggering; in 2018, 27 out of the top 100 most viewed YouTube videos were by Puerto Rican artists. Conversely, many non-profit organisations struggle for recognition, often due to limited financial resources. For Giving Tuesday, Ogilvy came up with a campaign called “Giving Tuesday: Giving Songs” and harnessed the global musical influence of Puerto Rico by using these widely watched music videos to appeal for donations. Imagine if social causes received the same visibility as these YouTube superstars. Keeping this in mind, Ogilvy requested renowned Puerto Rican artists to exhibit compassion in a simple way: by giving new significance to their hit song titles on YouTube. Throughout #GivingTuesday, when millions searched for their favourite music videos, these song titles transformed into public service announcements, informing fans about the cause they supported and encouraging them to donate at givingtuesday.org. #givingtuesday #notforprofits #charities #donations #influencermarketing #socialcause #youtube #ogilvy #amazingcampaigns #clevercampaigns #givingback #supportingcharities #marketing #digitalmarketing #videoadvertising

#CharitySubtypes #AdvancingCulture When the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission register an organisation, its charity ‘subtypes’ are also publicly registered. These reflect the category of that organisation’s charitable purpose, which is what its activities will work towards achieving. Each subtype has a specific meaning under the law. The subtype for discussion today is Advancing Culture. ✔️ Advancing culture includes the purposes of promoting or fostering culture, and caring for, preserving and protecting Australian heritage (but is not limited to this). Some examples of charities advancing culture: o Organisations that promote Australian Indigenous culture and customs o Fine arts societies, musical societies o Foundations for theatre, ballet, and the opera o Museums and libraries o Foundations and trusts supporting these activities ------- ℹ️ Accountants, Lawyers & Advisors ℹ️ Do your clients enquire about Charities/NFPs?
