Why do we do what we do? No, really - why? 🤔 There are probably a trillion posts on LinkedIn (or any other social network) celebrating some kind of success or offering advice on how to earn more money, become more popular, or hack some semi-relevant life activity. It is all about what is happening now or how someone enjoys their moment. ❓ But does all that, in the end, really matter? Better yet, what is that ultimate thing or ambition we are going for? Some would say it's becoming rich 💸 . Others would go for achieving some (ultimate) milestone 🗻. Most of those seek the gratification that comes as soon as possible, with as much time to enjoy the accomplishments as possible. Even if it takes years to get there, it's all about spending the least amount of lifetime to conquer the highest peak imagined. People rarely think further than that. And that is completely OK because it's hard to think about more than "I just wanna have a good life and leave my successors something to enjoy." However, some extraordinary people manage their quests so well that they leave behind something more. Much more than they ever thought possible (or even thought about at all). They leave behind their legacy. 🙌 I attended a truly great concert on Saturday, where a symphony orchestra performed classic rock songs. It was a great audio-visual experience and took me down a wonderful memory lane. As the concert came to its grand finale, I remembered one of my favorite YouTube videos—the one you can watch here. So, yeah - I'm writing a LinkedIn post based on that thought right now. Sue me😉 When Queen created Bohemian Rhapsody, they gambled a lot. They knew it was far from any standard rock format and that it would either be a hit or a complete fail. But I'm sure neither the late Eddie Mercury nor anyone else believed it was to be a piece of music that would, 40 years after it was recorded, evoke something like what was seen in the video. That is a true legacy, one that will last for generations to come. One that transcends assets, products, or big business wins. That, ladies and gentlemen, is how love (with a pinch of talent and a few spoons of hard work) creates something for eternity.

100 YEARS OF TURANDOT: 2024 marks the 100th anniversary of Puccini's death, leaving the masterwork TURANDOT unfinished, which would go on to become one of western culture's most persistent symbol of inspiration, beauty, and mystery. The statement "It's not over until the fat lady sings" emphasizes the importance of perseverance and patience in problem-solving. Just as in opera, where the climax often occurs when the soprano, traditionally depicted as a robust woman, sings the final notes, in problem-solving, success may not be immediately apparent. Challenges and setbacks are common, but the key is to keep pushing forward and exploring different approaches until a solution is found. This saying encourages individuals to remain resilient and determined, understanding that the conclusion may only come after sustained effort and thorough exploration of options. #problemsolving #life #growth

I work with leaders and management teams to bring focus and fun. Learning & Development Consultant, Leadership Coach, Writer and occasional Actor. Preferred pronouns: He/Him
I recently joined a choir and it is glorious. For years I have been threatening to join a choir and always found reasons not to: can't sing, too busy, wrong time. Having now followed through, I can fully appreciate why it was such a good idea. Firstly, singing is a healthy thing to do. It helps your breathing, and brings joy (if not to others, at least to yourself). Secondly, singing in a choir is an immediate and constant reminder of how beautiful we become when we work together. Within seconds, we are making magical sounds and harmonies. Most of my professional life has centred on supporting teams to become harmonious, productive, and ambitious. A choir is the absolute embodiment of this. What is more, without having star singers, a choir still manages to produce something cohesive, beautiful and transforming, which is the same for any team focused on a shared outcome. It's no accident that when something is working well, we refer to it as 'singing'. Does your team sing? Thanks to #TheToneRangers choir and #SharonLewis #teamwork #choir #harmony #sing

Flamenco. 💃🏻 I was in Seville at the weekend, taking in a little vermuth and a lot of culture. Seville is famous for oranges 🍊 and, of course, Flamenco 💃🏻. As an onlooker at a Flamenco performance you could be excused for thinking you are watching a carefully rehearsed performance. But you are not. True Flamenco 💃🏻 is a chaotic collection of unscripted performances. What we are enthralled by is a culturally rich creative communication process where each performer (guitar, singer, dancer) connects with their co-performers; who they may not have worked with before; to tell a story and co-create a spectacle in which each performer SIMULTANEOUSLY both aligns AND disrupts the flow, their combined energies creating syncopated pulses and rhythms that captivate. Watching the troupe stimulated my #team-process thinking. How can something so wonderful come from something so unbridled and unstructured. But, of course, it is exactly those attributes that create the wonderfulness How? 💃🏻 Whilst seemingly close to chaos, the performance adheres to complex and established cultural rules that maintain it in a state of ‘bounded instability’. 💃🏻 The roles within the troupe are clearly defined, and visible to all from the outside. 💃🏻 Cultural symbols give clarity and cultural rules govern the flow. 💃🏻 Story drives the content. 💃🏻 Dancer, singer, guitarist will each inject #flamboyance , #individuality and #creativity. 💃🏻 #leadership flows naturally around the troupe as the energy rises and falls. 💃🏻 Subtle cues are embedded in the rhythms that feel so natural. The performers operate in a tight signal-response relationship. 💃🏻 Individually the troupe members invest emotionally and immerse themselves in the performance. They are working hard, yet loving it. Individually they are ‘in the zone’. 💃🏻 For the performers, the audience almost disappears as they immerse themselves in their work What we see on the outside is #passion, #energy and immaculately timed crescendos of high #performance that only come when a #team is at their best. Our #emotions might be heightened. We need to find a way to be more #Flamenco! 💃🏻 Or maybe I need another vermuth 🥃

Empowering Leaders to build self-managed teams & cultures through conscious leadership | Organisational Design & Psychology Expert | Solar energy
Watch her dance. There’s a slow pace, patient element to it (it’s definitely not slow). It’s fast and slow. It’s smooth and so powerful without looking like there’s too much trying going on. It’s intentionally fast and slow. She’s not trying to be over sexual or anything. There’s a balance there. The dance is what is. Although this is over a year ago, the observations and lessons still stand. This is a life philosophy and it can be adapted across all dimensions of our life. Work, relationships, business, creating cultures, community. Solid foundations, trust and let go. We all have a certain version of this dance. Our authenticity. To turn up to the world and offer that is the foundation to creating a meaningful life by design.

🎭 Turio: I’ll after, more to be revenged on Eglamour Than for the love of reckless Silvia. Proteus: And I will follow, more for Silvia’s love Than hate of Eglamour that goes with her. Julia: And I will follow, more to cross that love Than hate for Silvia that is gone for love. — Turio, Proteus, Julia, Two Gentlemen of Verona 5-2 [ACTING TIPS] What is happening here? Silvia, locked in the high tower of her father’s castle, finally escaped with the help of Sir Eglamour. Knowing the fact, these three characters decided to follow her into the woods. Wow! I love it!! “Following the loved one who is not in love with you, into the woods” scheme is repeated in The Midsummer Night’s Dream. It’s fun to play with the echoing phrases of “I’ll after”. Turio’s love toward Silvia is already known, so he can declare his action. Proteus has hidden his love toward Silvia to Turio, but already revealed to Sebastian (who is Julia), so he can declare his action to Sebastian. Julia has not revealed her true state, so she alone share her thought only toward the audience. It would be fun to see that on stage. This kind of stage movement in action may be thought as a director’s work, but when the actors all have this director’s eye, this is easily done without the director. #shakespeare #english #actingtips #directing #julia # turio #proteus #twogentlemenofverona #lifeinJapan #kimono
