24 hours ago, a position relevant to my skills opened at State of Oregon. Since then I have been contacted 63 times by foreign recruiters. Not a single one has been US Based, or even one of the recruiting companies local to me. Which means for the job seeker is that your odds of actually being sent to the hiring manager are even lower because it is very likely all these companies are funneling everything up to another recruiting company. Of those contacts, one recruiter left VM, a text message, email AND a message on LinkedIn. Four recruiters left VM, Text messages and email. Most recruiters just left VM and email. I was contacted by the same recruiter from American Unit, Inc, Stellar Professionals, Exarca Inc., RadGov Inc. , InfoStride and Ask IT Consulting Inc. via email multiple times with time stamps hours from each other. Multiple recruiters from RadGov Inc., InstantServe LLC, Integrated Resources, Inc ( IRI ) and Dash Technologies Inc contacted me for this position. This system is broken, and I don't know what to do about it. Doubly so as I'm not interested and have removed my resume from all of the job boards I can manage to do so. Note that this is not a record of any sort, instead it is very typical whenever State of Oregon jobs become available. My record was 114 emails in one day, and so many text and voicemails that I had to turn my phone off. #recruiting #HR #recruitment

⚠️Bad Job Adverts are a real problem for Job Searchers!⚠️ Let me explain...👇 ⛔️"Operations Analyst"⛔️ Such a broad title, that is open to a wide interpretation, that huge amounts of applicants will search either "Operations" or "Analyst" and this role will come up, thus over 100 Applicants in just 12 hours. ⛔️"United States"⛔️ This implies anyone, anywhere in the US, regardless of time zone etc... The Chances are, this isn't accurate, as they will want people to work the same times, or even be able to meet or come to an office once a week, or once a month. Someone in South Florida would find this hard if the office is in Idaho. ⛔️"12 Hours, Over 100 Applicants"⛔️ This isn't accurate by any stretch, as LinkedIn caps the amount of applicants at 100. This could really be 1,000 for all we know. Equally, it doesn't include complete applications, it counts people that hit "Apply" but they may not complete the process. ⛔️"$65k-$95k/Yr"⛔️ Such a broad salary range will attract people of all levels, but which do you want? someone junior or senior? Surely the role can't be relevant to all. It also means they may go with a cheaper candidate over a more expensive one, to save money. Poor practice. ⛔️"Easy Apply" This button should be banned from LinkedIn as it makes the process far to easy and far to simple, that people will just click, because, "Why not" it takes zero effort, so who cares if it doesn't work. This causes huge amounts of wrong applications and creates a bottleneck in the process. ................................................................................................... You need to be aware and be wise to these poor adverts, as they don't work and cause chaose. I guarantee that this company will be bombarded with applications and will struggle to find the right person and hire. Chances are, this role will be posted again in a few weeks time, once they have gone through all the applications. Be mindful to which roles you apply!
