Egypt transition to #greenenergy is progressing with a diverse array of renewable energy projects. two of current #renewable energy projects are two wind farms in Egypt with a combined production capacity of 763 MW, one of which is the first of its kind in Egypt and operational since 2019 and the other under construction. Both projects are estimated to reduce #carbonemissions by 1.7 million per year.

Amunet Wind Project Hits Another Important Milestone – First Complete Wind Turbine Installed We are excited to announce that we have achieved a major milestone today with the first complete wind turbine being installed at our Amunet wind project in Egypt. There will be 77 Envision Energy EN-171 wind turbines installed, each with a 6.5MW capacity, with a rotor diameter of 171m and a hub height of 94.5m. The tip of the blade will be at 180m which is more than a 30-story building. With an installed capacity of 500MW, this project will be one of the largest of its kind in Africa once it’s commissioned. Infinity Power and Masdar (Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company) have signed a PPA with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) for the 200 MW Ras Ghareb onshore wind project in the Gulf of Suez region. Once constructed, the Ras Ghareb wind farm will generate about 810 GWh per annum while displacing 403,672 tonnes of CO2eq emissions. “We are excited to announce the construction of the Ras Ghareb wind farm, a project that symbolises Infinity Power’s steadfast commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions,” said Mohamed Ismail Mansour, Chairman of Infinity Power. “This initiative not only expands our footprint in Egypt but also signifies another big stride in bolstering our local impact in the renewables sector, creating valuable jobs. Masdar (Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company) consortium secures land for 10GW wind project in Egypt 🇪🇬 🤝 Strategic Partnership: The Egyptian government has approved a proposal by a consortium to develop a 10,000 MW wind farm on 13,025 km² of land in the western region. The consortium includes Infinity Power, a joint venture between Egypt's Infinity and Masdar (Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company), along with Hassan Allam Utilities. 🌱 Comprehensive Studies: With the land grant, the consortium can commence resource measurement campaigns, geotechnical and topographical studies, and environmental studies to ensure minimal environmental impact, according to Infinity Power. 💰 Significant Investment: The project, estimated to cost $10 billion, aims to generate 47,790 GWh of clean electricity annually, reducing CO₂ emissions by 23.8 million tonnes over the same period. 💵 Economic Benefits: The 10 GW wind farm is expected to save Egypt approximately $5 billion in natural gas costs each year. 📈 Renewable Energy Goals: Egypt aims to increase its renewable energy share to 42% of its electricity mix by 2030, up from 7% in 2023. Egypt set to build the largest Wind Turbine farm in Africa #Egypt is advancing its renewable energy goals with the construction of a massive $10 billion wind farm, set to commence in March 2026. This ambitious project, poised to be one of the world's largest, is expected to generate a substantial 10 gigawatts of power upon completion in 2032. Egypt officially handed over land for the West Sohag Wind Energy Project to the Alliance (Infinity Power, Hassan Allam and Almiratiya Masdar) where it is set to build the largest farm in Egypt to produce wind electricity with an investment of 10 billion dollars, and the area of the station is 852 square km. The project, upon completion, will produce about 48 thousand gigawatts/hour of clean energy annually, contribute to avoiding the emission of about 24 million tonnes of CO2, and will provide about 23 thousand direct and indirect job opportunities during the period of implementation and operation for the people of Asaid.
