"Look closely at egg cartons in the supermarket, and you'll find many marketing claims—from organic to natural, and everything in between. Two of the most common labels, “cage-free” and “free-range,” seem self-explanatory: Hens are raised without cages and with plenty of outdoor space, respectively. Right? The ethical and environmental specifics are worth looking into. Here, we discuss the differences between cage-free and free-range eggs and where the "pasture-raised" label fits in. We also analyze the treatment of laying hens, environmental concerns, and more." Maize Day, November 24th celebrates the role that maize (corn) has played in the history of food. Maize or corn has an interesting and ancient role in many native legends and myths. Maize has been thought to have been around since 1500 B.C. and it spread rapidly after it was first cultivated. The word maize itself derives from the Spanish form of the indigenous word for plant. It was one of the most important foods of Indigenous Americans. It was up to 65% of their diet and was more precious and valuable than anything else. The European settlers brought their own grains with them but soon realized that they didn’t fare as well as maize. And like the Indigenous Americans, colonial farmers utilized all parts of maize. The cobs were used as toilet paper, the stalk and leaves were used for livestock feed and the husks were used to make brooms and chair bottoms as well as to pad mattresses and collars for draft animals. This impressive crop is now used in numerous types of food including chewing gum, bread, corn flakes, and popcorn and it’s used as one of the main ingredients of feed for cows and horses. Thankfully it is no longer needed as a form of toilet paper! If you’re looking for a belt to convey your maize (corn) give Roberto a call. It doesn’t matter if it was just picked or it’s frozen, we have what you need. #conveyor #conveyors #conveyorbelt #conveyorbelts #conveyorsystem #conveyorsystems #conveyorsolutions #bandastransportadoras #beltingmadeeasy #maizeday

A story is told of a farmer who lived in a region plagued by drought☀️. This affected his ability to produce and sell crops resulting in starvation for his family. One day as he was attending his farm, he discovered that his goose🦆 had laid a golden egg 🪙. The farmer decided to sell the egg and was amazed that selling one golden egg generated more revenue than what he would have had he sold all his crops 🌾. He became greedy and wanted to sell more of the eggs. The farmer would go to the goose after every hour of the day to collect an egg, so much that he stopped performing his other farm duties 🐄🐓🌾🐖. One morning 🌄, he was dismayed after finding his goose dead. Moral of the story is, don't forget to take care of the goose 🦆(mental health, employees, professional relationships). Because without the goose, there will be no golden egg 🪙(projects, revenue, production). One writer put it as: the egg represents productivity and the goose is the production capability. #careergrowth #mentalhealth #principles #productivity

Kirsten says: The other day I ordered three different plants and a bottle of Bacta Clear. I can't say anything about the Bacta Clear yet, as I only put it in the pond yesterday. I was very happy with the plants. Two of the three species were quite large plants and super healthy. Not those very small frills that you can hardly see, which I sometimes received with an online order. Planted everything in the pond yesterday, so I hope it all takes off well. #CustomerReviews #HappyCustomers #ClientFeedback #SatisfiedCustomers #FiveStarReviews #CustomerSatisfaction #ReviewUs #CustomerExperience #HappyClients

Important - please share.... For those of you that don't know, bees play an absolutely critical role in our food chain, pollinating many of the plants and vegetables we eat. In many places you can see exhausted bumblebee queens crawling around on the garden terrace or, as in the picture here, crawling around on a sidewalk. It seems that this sight is growing more frequent. The critters can be helped quite easily: Carefully pick them up with a piece of paper. Dissolve half a teaspoon of sugar in a little lukewarm water and spoon it to the animal. Within a few minutes, the bumblebee can recharge its batteries with up to a third of a teaspoon with its long proboscis. If you help a bumblebee queen in early spring, you are not only saving a single animal, but an entire bumblebee colony that is still in the process of being formed. Important - please share....for those of you that don't know, bees play an absolutely critical role in our food chain, pollinating many of the plants and vegetables we eat. The same applies to worker bees as well. ❤️ NO HONEY, PLEASE!!

Little known fact outside of beekeeping circles: most beekeepers make a living through "pollination services" NOT by selling honey. That means driving their bees across the country to visit farms whenever crops are in bloom, then driving back home during the harvest/winter season. By choosing Local Hive, you're choosing 100% U.S. honey and supporting the American beekeepers that help put food on our tables.
