We were excited to host a roundtable discussion on Early Maths at the Labour Party Conference last week. Avnee reported: "We had an amazing time connecting with friends old and new at the Labour Party Conference, hearing views on possible policy directions for UK education. I was honoured to open a roundtable, co-hosted with the Education Policy Institute, that brought together an influential group to think about what the future of early maths teaching looks like. We discussed a number of issues including the importance of number fluency in laying the foundations for future attainment, the role of low stakes and high stake assessment and how to support the transition from the Early Years into Key Stage 1. Thank you to everyone who attended and brought us forward in this interesting and important conversation." We were delighted to host the inaugural author meeting for Source to Summit: Lighting the Path – our forthcoming resource to support the new Primary RED – in the beautiful and apt surroundings of Hinsley Hall, Leeds. Dr Nancy Walbank our series editor, led proceedings, ably supported by our theological consultant Dr Margaret Carswell. Creative and inspiring collaboration and contributions from our brilliant authors, consultants and partners followed and we all left feeling energised for the work ahead. We’re working quickly, though, and teachers will be able to see some samples very soon, followed by the whole of Branch 3 ready to try in Year 1 classrooms for free in January 2025!
