Celebrating The Power of Giving Giving Tuesday lasts all week as we focus on how each and every single act of generosity offers light for those in darkness. At Adventist Health Glendale’s Center for Behavioral Health and Recovery, patients receive compassionate and whole-person services and care. Yet, with continuous occupants it’s often challenging for staff to take the time to upgrade and update beyond the Center’s basic needs. Imagine what a beautiful mural or colorful artwork can do to elevate your mood, and how it can assist the therapy of a patient often in the Center for days or weeks. Every contribution can help improve the healing environment with the smallest comforts. Show your care for others today! Contributions will go towards the much-needed larger projects of: Medical beds ($8K per bed); Mural/painted walls in unit; New furniture for common room/craft room Landscaping on patio; Outside chairs and sunshades for patients to enjoy the patio; Chain link fence outside outpatient area; Lower area basketball court needs resurfacing – beneficial for acute and outpatient Transportation to and from outpatient program (would help to grow the outpatient program) With your help, together we can make each day better and brighter. https://lnkd.in/dRBp4NBU

Today I’ll be 50-60 professionals regionally for the ETSU Ballad Health Strong BRAIN Institute in my Train the Trainer course. These individuals will then be able to facilitate a 3.5 hour Bascis of Trauma, ACEs, Resilence, and Key Principles for Using a Trauma Informed Approach within their own organizations or community. Ten years ago when I helped pioneer community resilence in NE TN and now do this work nationally and internationally, there are three key steps I follow for growing resilence…Advocate, Educate, and Collaborate. In 2020 a toolkit I Co-authored based on this model was recommended by Johns Hopkins Progress in Community Health Partnerships: Research, Education, and Action journal as a practical tool for communities to follow.

Prisma Health Children's Hospitals' annual Good Night Lights event is a heartfelt example of community solidarity, bringing joy to hospitalized children during the holiday season. These healthcare professionals provide education of diagnosis, treatment, and procedures at a level that the child can understand and they help kids process big emotions through difficult times.
