I always talk to our carriers and shippers about creating a culture that supports each other and helps each other win. You know, true partnerships. Yesterday I was working with a new carrier to our network trying to reposition their truck from NV/CA to TX. We did not have a shipment for them, but we did have a TX shipment that they wanted. The dispatcher asked if I could help her with booking a shipment from a different broker as she was in the truck driving and could not search the load boards. I obliged and we got on a conference call together and called on a few loads. We made 3 calls to 3 different brokers...... (1 small and 2 large companies) As a freight broker myself, I was embarrassed by what I experienced and heard on the phone. Few observations: 1. No one let me know their names. 2. 2 spoke so fast and with such disinterest in their voice that it made it seem as though I was a bother. 3. Hold time (Small broker 2 minutes, large brokers 14 minutes and 17 minutes) 4. If these were all "Carrier Sales" roles, not a single person was interested in selling and/or growing their carrier network 5. The largest broker did not follow up via email or phone yesterday (still hasn't in fact. I checked this morning) It's no wonder why carriers do not like dealing some freight brokers. The carrier that I was working with asked why more freight brokers aren't like us. (Cue Kendrick's "Not Like Us") #og1mc #freight #transportation #broker #sales #trucking #notlikeus

Freight Agents, if there's one thing NOT to ask on a cold call it's this. Under no circumstances should you ask... "Did I catch you at a bad time?" Why? This opens the door for a prospect to end the call right away. Here are 9 questions you should ask. 1. What are your responsibilities? 2. What's your biggest challenge? 3. What are your main priorities when shipping? 4. What lanes are you shipping? 5. What do you look for in a Freight Agent? ...and more! Keep reading and save the blog post to use when you plan your next call. https://lnkd.in/eaQ9u7ej #coldcalltips #freightagent #freightbroker

“Be Curious, Not Judgmental” “Well Done is Better Than Well Said” | Proud Father and Husband | Freight Broker | Sports Cards and Memorabilia Collector | Fly Eagles Fly!
Yesterday I had a situation where my customer was asking for my lowest possible quote on a lane as they were trying to win a new customer themselves. Many brokers would have given their "lowest" and hope the customer is none the wiser. I decided to run the truck at a loss, share the rate confirmation with my customer, and explained that I understand what it's like trying to woo a new customer. The response I received from my customer? Quote requests for 14 additional lanes. Lesson? Provide honest and transparent service, and the opportunity to pay for your chair will always be there. If you feel that your current freight partners are dropping the ball on transparency, visibility, or service, message me and let me walk you through what I do for my customers. I can't promise that I will beat your current price, but I can promise the service I provide will be far beyond what you are used to. Full Truck, LTL, Air Freight, Ocean Freight, Rail, Hazmat, me and my team can do it all! My customers and I are a TEAM. You make money, I make money. Brokers bragging about their "FAT RIPS" are the same ones who won't there for you when the tables turn. I'm here for the LONG haul! Let me help you! #logistics #logisticssolutions #fulltruckload #oceanfreight #airfreight #freight #transparency #honesty #integrity

As a freight broker, clear and effective communication is essential to building strong relationships with carriers, shippers, and other stakeholders in the logistics industry. Whether you are negotiating rates, arranging shipments, or providing updates on delivery status, it's important to communicate clearly and promptly with all parties involved. One way to ensure effective communication is to establish clear expectations up front. This means setting expectations around response times, availability, and the types of information that will be communicated. By establishing these expectations early on, you can avoid misunderstandings and ensure that everyone is on the same page. In addition to clear communication, it's also important to respond promptly to inquiries and always follow through on your commitments. This means responding to emails and phone calls in a timely manner, providing accurate and detailed information when requested, and taking ownership of any issues or challenges that arise. By responding promptly and following through on commitments, you demonstrate your reliability and professionalism to clients and partners. This can go a long way in building trust and confidence in your services, leading to repeat business and referrals. Of course, effective communication and follow-through require a high level of organization and attention to detail. By utilizing tools and systems that help you manage your workflow and stay on top of deadlines, you can ensure that you are providing the highest level of service possible. INQUIRE NOW! I have been working in freight brokerage for the past three years and have gained many clients who trust me. I've handled various tasks such as managing inbound and outbound calls on my own. Initially, I started with a few clients from LinkedIn and others from cold calls. However, I've noticed that the freight industry has changed significantly over the years. Previously, I would make around 100-200 calls every day and could get 5 or more customer emails. Nowadays, it has become almost impossible to get any response. Most businesses I contact don't want to work with third-party logistics providers or have started their own brokerage and dispatching companies. I've read many articles and watched videos online to improve my business, but nothing seems to be working. I'm struggling to find clients who are interested in working with a freight brokerage without feeling overwhelmed by the number of calls they receive from brokers every day. Therefore, I would like to ask my LinkedIn connections for their thoughts on how I can reach potential clients who are tired of constant calls from brokers. I appreciate any suggestions you may have. #freightforwarding #brokers #freightbroker #customerexperience #dispatcher #opinion
