📰 In the article 'How Students Learn Best', published by the Australian Education Research Organisation (AERO), the authors emphasised the impact of the learning environment, saying, “Students need to feel accepted, valued and have a positive sense of belonging to sustain their attention and focus within the learning environment … cultural safety is an additional essential foundation for learning.”    🐓 Independent evaluation of the Kitchen Garden Program highlights the effectiveness that kitchen garden environments have in fostering a sense of connection, safety and belonging from which deeper learning is supported. 👨👦 Our evidence-based approach demonstrates impact and aligns with all six domains of 'The Nest: Australia’s wellbeing framework for children and young people' produced by ARACY (Australian Research Alliance for Children and Youth). One innovative idea that could make a positive impact on the environment and encourage outdoor activities on campus or in local areas is the implementation of a community garden initiative. By creating designated green spaces where students, faculty, and community members can come together to grow their own fruits, vegetables, and herbs, we can promote sustainability, healthy eating habits, and a sense of community. A great way to innovative an idea or project that could make a positive impact on the environment or encourages outdoor activities on your campus or in local areas are community gardens; Not only do they provide a source of fresh, organic produce but also serve as educational tools for learning about gardening, nutrition, and environmental stewardship. Additionally, they can help reduce food waste, promote biodiversity, and improve air quality in urban areas. By partnering with local organizations, businesses, and volunteers, we can establish and maintain community gardens that benefit both the environment and the well-being of individuals in the community. This initiative can foster a greater connection to nature, promote physical activity, and create a more sustainable and resilient campus and local environment. #Scholarship ScholarshipOwl Galen College of Nursing

This is only the beginning… When a teacher and a chef had a conversation back last April, the tenacity of Julia Mottershead shone through. Meeting Noel Kennedy his support for the ideas was also encouraging. The idea… into improve the food processes and systems across our city Stoke-on-Trent City Council Schools are known for not been budget rich. But they are rich in people, energy and ideas. These have incredible value. How can we improve student experience through food? How can we contribute to curriculum and learning? Is it possible to increase the cognition and skills in students in food at KS3+4? Some of the questions we are keen to explore. There is a synergie with education and hospitality also. One that is not often highlighted. Many people that arrive in our industry are neuro-divergent. Many of which have not been able to find a sense of place within education. Working with schools we can explore personal development, self awareness and skill development with young people. Hospitality offers so much to young people wether it’s for a few years or for their whole career. It’s fantastic to have this partnership with Thistley Hough. The allotment project is a great example of the work that is happening here. #cityallotment
