Classic Velcro Mosquito Net For Windows Available in Chinnamanur / Bodi / Periyakulam / Theni A mosquito net is a protective barrier, usually composed of fine mesh fabric, that is placed over a bed or other sleeping area to keep mosquitoes and other insects out. In tropical and subtropical areas where mosquito-borne illnesses like malaria, dengue fever, and the Zika virus are endemic, these nets are frequently employed. A lightweight, permeable mesh material that permits air circulation while keeping insects out is commonly used in mosquito net designs. The mesh is woven tightly enough to keep out mosquitoes and other tiny insects, yet it still permits airflow and view, so the user is kept comfortable. One option is to hang mosquito nets over a bed.

Insecticide-treated mosquito bed nets have been distributed as a tool to reduce risk of malaria disease. Reports show that some recipients instead use the nets for fishing. RP’s GHD team aimed to understand if this practice depletes fish stocks and can lead to food insecurity. How prevalent is this? Our findings suggest that mosquito net fishing (MNF) is not widespread, practiced by an estimated 0.6% of the total African population (with large confidence interval up to 5% of people). It’s plausible that MNF may lead to overfishing, but without robust quantitative evidence, we couldn't determine the degree of impact. Sources suggest that some African households (10-15%) might become food insecure if fish stocks were severely depleted. Read more: https://bit.ly/4a3BPIb
