Loved this podcast episode - all about modern leadership in healthcare. It was packed full of issues that I feel really passionate about. From characteristics of good leaders (not what you might think) to the systems of work that make it a challenge to lead well in healthcare, this is about new leadership, focussing on connection, re-addressing the 'deficit' culture of healthcare with positive feedback, and too many other themes to pack into this post!
What makes a good leader in SEM and healthcare? Listened to this episode of Marketplace (https://lnkd.in/gFHH-w7u) in January and some statistics sparked my interest. - 1/2 of employees are not engaged at work. - 1/4 of employees do not know their job responsibilities. - Middle managers are the most burned out. In my observations, middle managers are frequently undervalued for the impact they can have on organizations. In this podcast, middle managers reflected on long work hours, and blurred boundaries when it comes to the work day and weekends. A few tips to employers: Spend more time supporting and developing middle managers by encouraging balance, investing in their development through training and education, and listening to their wants and needs. The segment starts at the 4 minute, 40 second mark. #management #support #workforcedevelopment #workforce #managers
