Our Medical Director, Dr Doyle, talks about a day in the life here at StatMD: "Do the words “Is there a doctor on board” fill you with anxiety? For Dr. Thomas Doyle, responding to in flight medical events is just another day at the office. As the medical director for STAT-MD, him and his team provide on the ground consultation for passengers experiencing medical events at 35,000 feet. In this episode we talk about what events are most common, what equipment is on board, what are the rules/regulations around providing medical assistance, and what ground consultation services like STAT-MD can help offer to you so you’re never alone if you hear that phrase “Is there a doctor on board?”

Specialist speech and language therapist in neurological and neurodegenerative disease and disorders with specialist expertise in facial palsy rehabilitation
Majority of the people that attend our clinic tell us the one of the worst things about their facial palsy is the lack of knowledge from heath professionals they have encountered on their journey. Most report that their GPs told them they would get better after 3 months and to be patient. Once the 3 months were up and they hadn't recovered, most didn't know where to sign post or who to refer to. I encourage as many health professionals as possible to take part in this online webinar to better support people with facial palsy #knowledgeispower
CAN YOU HELP? We are holding a Facial Palsy webinar on the 6th March 6pm-7.30pm, led by clinicians, for clinicians. The session will give an overview of facial palsy and cover a GP perspective, secondary care, specialist facial therapy and psychosocial wellbeing. Please help us by advertising this event through your own clinical and professional networks; we are trying to raise awareness amongst clinicians who are not specialists in facial palsy but would be interested to know more about facial palsy, where and how to get specialist help for example, and how to better support individuals with facial palsy. Please register on eventbrite: https://buff.ly/3Hm9IYP (Please note this webinar is for clinicians only and is not suitable for patients) #FacialPalsy #FacialParalysis #Webinar #Training #FOAMed Charles Nduka NHS Information Centre Royal College of Emergency Medicine Royal College of Physicians General Medical Council The Royal College of Surgeons of England Royal Society of Medicine NHS England East of England Ambulance Service British Medical Association Royal College of General Practitioners Health Education England Royal Society for Public Health The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh

A critical step for survivability after a critical incident. #ALERRT
Add Massachusetts to the list of States that have pushed ahead to get whole blood to the streets....and have saved a life because of it (see link below)! Kudos to the CANTON FIRE DEPARTMENT, Leo Reardon, MICHAEL ANDREW VALKANAS MD, Chief Scott Johnson, and the entire team for making this happen. Many more lives will be saved because of leadership like this! This effort required collaboration from Braintree Fire & Police, Brewster EMS, and Boston Medical Center (BMC), and all should be recognized for making LTOWB a priority. https://lnkd.in/eyDf34hN Randall Schaefer, DNP, RN, ACNS-BC, CEN | Mark Piehl, MD, MPH | Juan Duchesne | Tom Dransfield | Donald Jenkins | John Holcomb | Phil Spinella | Ben P. | Candace Pineda, RN, MBA,BSN, TCRN | Madonna Stotsenburg, DNP, MBA, BSHSA, BSN, RN, TCRN | Danielle Tatum, PhD. | Meg Marino | David Miramontes MD FACEP | Eric Epley | David Long, MA | Scott Dodson | Lekshmi Kumar | 410 Medical: LifeFlow | Kyle Chenet | QinFlow (Quality in Flow) | Heath Clark | James Roach, D.O., FACEP, FACHE | Jon Krohmer | Monti Leija | Delta Development Team, Inc. | David Vitberg, MD | Robert P. 🩺💼 Reflecting on a Week at the Fracture Management Workshop 💼🩺 Just wrapped up a really engaging fracture management workshop this week, teaching family medicine residents and 4th-year acting interns. Family Medicine is such a vast field, and it's incredible how much there is to learn, making it so appealing. We centered our discussion around the importance of continuously learning new skills. This is so we can practice Family Medicine broadly, as it's meant to be, rather than narrowing our scope and relying on specialists all the time. I guided them through recognizing various fractures and understanding which specific X-rays are needed. But we didn't stop there—we got our hands dirty with some splinting right in our offices. Why, you might wonder? Well, it’s simple—our goal is to minimize unnecessary ER visits, which can really increase the bills for our patients, especially those with high deductibles. Trust me, nobody wants that kind of unexpected financial burden. Moments like this workshop remind me why I chose Family Medicine. It's never boring! Every day brings something new, and there’s always a chance to be a jack-of-all-trades, continually adding to our toolbox to better serve our community. So, to my fellow healthcare heroes, let’s keep our learning caps on and stethoscopes ready. Our patients depend on us to not just treat them but to do so with their well-being and finances in mind! #FamilyMedicine #patientcosts #sportsmedicinedoctor https://lnkd.in/eXf4sJTn

Do you know what device does continuous debridement of slough? Don’t have FOMO! Join us tonight as I moderate this awesome discussion. Link below! 👇👇👇👇
We are pleased to announce our June webinar New Debridement on the Block: An Introduction to Continuous Debridement of Slough Sponsored by Urgo Medical North America. Join us as Caitlin Scarborough, BSN, RN, CWOCN presents this important topic on Jun 19, 2024 06:00 PM CST/7PM EST. Click the link below to register and share with your colleagues. Bio: Caitlin Scarborough is a certified Wound, Ostomy, Continence Nurse from Minnesota. She began her nursing career in the Army working in med/surg and plastics in Landstuhl, Germany. She was then stationed in San Antonio, TX where she was a burn nurse at Brooke Army Medical Center. These assignments fostered her love of all things wound care so she became certified and entered civilian life. She worked for 8 years at a specialty and transplant hospital in San Antonio before making the move home to Minnesota. Her experiences on many different units around the world give her a unique perspective on patient care. Title: New Debridement on the Block: An Introduction to Continuous Debridement of Slough Abstract: Current published consensus guidelines from IWII, WRR, and NPIAP tell us that debridement is vital to the healing processes because “microbial colonies begin to reform 24 hours after debridement” and the presence of “slough or necrotic tissue can promote bacterial growth…[and] prevent the formation of granulation tissue…” and furthermore, it is proven that “more frequent debridement was associated with improved healing.” However, current debridement options such as: sharp, autolytic, mechanical, or ointment-based debridement options have their limits. Join Caitlin Scarborough as she introduces the first and only dressing that supports the continuous debridement of slough, UrgoClean Ag. She will expand on UrgoClean Ag’s effectiveness to continuously clean the wound bed by leveraging the dressing’s unique and proprietary charged fibers throughout the wear time. Backed by an RCT and the largest observational study ever conducted for a silver dressing, UrgoClean Ag is officially making its debut in North America. Link: https://lnkd.in/eZfEAQww
