The latest figures from the government regarding homelessness tell us that over 300,000 households (at least) were assessed as homeless at the end of 2023. That’s a 14% increase on the figure we saw in 2022. It equates to an additional 38,100 people who are now experiencing homelessness. As we know all too well, homelessness comes in many forms, and the figures demonstrate a steady increase across the board. For example: ⚫ A 26% rise in rough sleeping - 3,000 people each night. ⚫ 279,000 families and individuals ‘living’ in temporary accommodation. ⚫ 20,000 people in supported accommodation or hostels. Ultimately, for too many people in 2023, the most wonderful time of the year was sadly a continued period of uncertainty, anxiety, and instability. It's seeing figures like these that only make the team here at Simon on the Streets even more determined to make sure this isn't the case by the time we reach Christmas 2024. As we near the end of our Christmas Appeal, any donation or support you can give would be greatly appreciated. #donations #donatenow #support

🗓️ It's cold outside, yet still so many young people have nowhere to sleep night after night 🥶 re:sustain is gearing up, alongside the wider industry, for this year's LandAid SleepOut 💤🌙, an incredible annual initiative dedicated to raising vital funds to support young people throughout the UK without a place to call home 🏠 David Harvey-Evers, Katie Whipp, Finlay Milliner and I will be getting a taste for the night's elements across two cities: #Bristol and #London. Join us as we take a stand against youth homelessness - it really is amazing what the industry can achieve when it works together 🤝 This issue is especially close to my heart as 5% of homeless people are veterans - a number which rose 14% in 2022 - no one who has served their country should be in this position, without the support of their family, military and social network. Op Fortitude aimed to remove veterans sleeping on the streets by the end of 2023 and the Government has committed to ending rough sleeping by the end of 2024. But this is a community effort and we must all help where we can. 🤔 If you're still on the fence about signing up, don't hesitate any longer - pull up your sleeping bag! 👉 https://lnkd.in/evpfAuwY 🤝 Unable to join on the night itself? You can still make a big impact by supporting our fundraising efforts 👉 https://lnkd.in/ekb-i49P Every donation helps provide vital support for young people in need, so please spread the word and collectively, we can create positive change 💪 #LandAidSleepOut #EndYouthHomelessness #CommunityImpact LandAid Sustainable Ventures UK PropTech Association (UKPA) CMS King's College London Verdantix

Thinking of how you can make the most of "Random Acts of Kindness Day" today? Take a moment to help those experiencing homelessness: donate to organizations like PCCI who are helping find housing for those in need, or if you have an extra blanket or warm socks to give, those are always appreciated. https://bit.ly/3Uc69f7 Tips to Help from Atlanta Mission: https://bit.ly/3vObDmp

One night isn't a lot, but it can make a whole lot of difference. Every night, thousands of Australians experience homelessness. But it doesn't have to be that way. Our Managing Director Phil Allison is helping to raise money for the St Vincent de Paul Society to support Australians in need. For one night, he'll be sleeping outside as part of an eye-opening experience to raise awareness and bring home the realities of homelessness. To help break the devastating cycle of homelessness, your donation can really help. Will you help Phil reach his target? Donating can make a huge difference to people who need it most. https://buff.ly/3TJ8AVV #CEOSleepout

What a great way to start the year.....Please support Malcolm (our Director of Finance & Risk) to raise money for this great cause, if you can. The streets are a very cold and dangerous place to live, especially at this time of year. In today's society, this should not be the only option for anyone, when life doesn't quite work out the way you planned. Please help Malcolm and Centrepoint give those less fortunate the help and support they need to rebuild their lives. https://lnkd.in/e5znRYdK
Happy New Year Everyone - are you feeling charitable in 2024. On 23rd February I will be joining around 100 others on a fundraiser for Centrepoint and sleeping rough on the streets of London for one night. Unfortunately, there are many young people who are not as fortunate as many of us, and through no fault of their own are having to spend the winter on the streets. Centrepoint help homeless youth, by providing them with somewhere safe to live, counselling and advice, so they can start to rebuild their lives. The charity relies heavily on support and donations from the likes of you and me. If you feel that you can help me raise funds for this worthwhile charity please visit my Just Giving page, all donations are gratefully received. https://lnkd.in/e5znRYdK Thanks All!

🌟Myth: Donating to Homelessness Charities Doesn’t Make a Difference 🌟Reality: Every contribution counts. Your support helps us provide vital identification documents that open doors to housing, employment, and a fresh start for those in need. Without these essential IDs, many individuals remain stuck in a cycle of homelessness, unable to access the services that can change their lives. In fact, just $12 gets a state ID in the hands of someone looking to end their homelessness! At Homeless ID Project, we see the impact of every donation firsthand. Each dollar goes toward helping someone take that critical first step toward stability and independence. Want to make a difference? Your donation can help us continue this life-changing work. Donate Today: HIDP.org and click ‘Donate’ or text hidp to 44321. Let’s work together to give everyone the opportunity for a fresh start. ❤️ #EndHomelessness #HomelessIDProject #EveryDonationCounts #SupportChange #MakeADifference

Expanding Housing First initiatives can significantly support charities like Newbury Soup Kitchen in housing our clients. Housing First offers a pathway to more sustainable outcomes for our clients. Rather than solely providing temporary relief, Newbury Soup Kitchen can collaborate with Housing First programs to facilitate the transition of our clients into permanent housing. This allows us to focus its resources on other essential services, such as providing meals and outreach. Sadly, this service is required now more than ever with the increasing rise in homelessness across England. Through collaboration and a shared commitment to housing as a fundamental human right, Housing First can support our clients find a long-term solution to homelessness. #notjustsoup
