As part of the #PathwaysToPlanning graduate scheme, grads study for a fully-funded masters' degree in Planning alongside their full-time, salaried role as a Planner. Here are some facts and figures about the university study part of the scheme: - There are two routes: master's and apprenticeship. Different councils will select different options, and with both routes you'll receive a master's degree at the end (MA or MSc). At interview stage, you'll be able to see the study offer and which university the council will be working with. - You will have paid time off to study - Pathways graduates are usually at university (on campus) once a week. - Don't worry about choosing a course - your employing council will do the legwork and find the most appropriate qualification for you, and you'll be supported through the application. Whether you're about to graduate, graduated 10 years ago, or already have a postgraduate qualification - we are open to you. Are you an apprentice or trainee in the construction industry? Or do you know someone who is? As part of her honours dissertation, Jeannine Hansen, Case Manager/Field Officer at MATES SA, is conducting a research study on the positive aspects of mental well-being in construction apprentices. Your participation could provide valuable insights into this important topic. The anonymous survey will take only 10-15 minutes to complete. You are also welcome to share it with other apprentices. As a gesture of appreciation, you can enter a draw to win a $50 Bunnings voucher. After the draw, all email addresses will be deleted. 🤔 Why is there a 47% drop out rate for Construction Apprentices?.. and what can every sector learn from these stats? FE Soundbite Edition 761 🔎 This is the weekly e-journal from FE News, more on #inclusion & #Diversity, #Student welfare, #SkillsPolicy impacts for employers, #Tertiary and cross sector collaboration, #Apprenticeships...and more 👷♂️ In my reflective perspective, I take a deeper look and think around the research from NOCN Group and the BACH British Association of Construction Heads highlighting a 47% drop out rate for Construction Apprentices. 🏗I have a deeper think around ther data (Construction is a massive skills and growth area for this Gov... and the last... so what does this mean for hitting these targets and what can we learn for other sectors and competencies)? ✍ We have fantastic exclusive thought leadership articles from: 🌈 Dame Ann Limb DBE DL and Dr Katerina Kolyva FRSA on inclusive leadership practices 🏢 Jonathan Bourne on the new Gov #Skills agenda and what does this mean for employers? 🏛 Stephanie Conville on student welfare 🤝 Gary Fisher on cross sector collaboration in Tertiary Education ... and so much more! So often we are told that the traditional route of a four-year degree is the ONLY option if we want to switch careers. But for those who feel that college may not be the best fit, there are plenty of alternatives to college that take less time, earn more money, and can be just as fulfilling. Here are the top five alternatives to college for those looking to switch careers or those just getting started. 👇🏼 https://lnkd.in/exPihzqc #sleepconsultantcertification #babysleepconsultant #sleepconsultant

FutureReadyNYC career education program adds HVAC, building decarbonization By Brian Martucci Some 135 high schools would gain work-based learning and apprenticeship opportunities under the New York City initiative. Young people are increasingly interested in careers in skilled trades like HVAC, according to a Thumbtack study released in September. The study of 1,000 Generation Z individuals, or people born between 1997 and 2012, and 1,000 parents of Gen Z members found 55% of Gen Z respondents are considering skilled trades jobs, up from 43% in 2023. The study also found that 93% of Gen Z individuals and 80% of Gen Z parents believed learning a skilled trade can be a better route to economic security than attending college. https://hubs.li/Q030B2Kk0

Really interesting report from Strada Education Foundation on post #highered opportunity, by state! 📊 Pleasantly surprised to read that a majority of colleges have good *college-to-career data and systems* (but only a few have enhanced wage records to predict post grad outcomes) 👎 Disappointed that only 1/4 students at two-year schools and 1/5 at four-year schools get *education-to-career coaching.* We leave students' coursework, clubs, and careers disconnected at our peril! 💵 Intrigued by their approach to measuring *affordability* -- hours per week at state median wage to cover net cost of attendance. CA and WA most affordable with AL, LI, GA, MT, ND, NH, OH, and PA are least affordable 🏢 Good to see that about half completed an *internship* but wondering about how this is defined since this is 41% according to Gallup (who also showed students who complete them are 1.8x more likely to be engaged at work post grad and 1.5x more likely to think their education was worth the cost). 🚩 Gut punch on *employer alignment* though: No states met Strada's criteria for doing an exemplary job of aligning supply of grads and programs with employer and career demand. Check out the report in the comments - worth a read! #highereducation #highered #studentsuccess #career #employment
