We believe there is a massive need for people to reconnect physically without a drop of fossil fuel or carbon dioxide, not being captured, so what path Sustainable Aviation takes is up to us providing the technology and fast.
Airbus VP, Zero Emission Aircraft, Glenn Llewellyn, recently sat down with our Founder and CEO, Val Miftakhov, and provided insights into the #ZEROe program activities, covering 3 main areas: developing the ecosystem (including delivering the large quantities of hydrogen needed at airports) and propulsion technology development (e.g., making fuel cell systems lighter and more power-dense), among a number of other topics.✈️ Check out the snippet in the video or hear from Glenn on what Airbus is working on underneath the ZEROe program here: https://lnkd.in/egwaaPi7 #zeroemission #hydrogen #aviation

Hydrogen-powered flight is on the horizon, and today's talk by Cranfield Aerospace Solutions, hosted by the Royal Aeronautical Society was truly inspiring to me. It's incredible to learn how companies pioneering hydrogen flight are also the ones who are helping to set industry standards and regulation. Starting with gaseous hydrogen and then scaling up to liquid hydrogen is a critical step in making sustainable flight a reality. Exciting times for the aviation industry!

🚀 Hydrogen-Electric Propulsion 🛩️ Stellar Jet has introduced a hydrogen-electric ducted fan propulsion system for a regional hybrid VTOL aircraft. The system unveiled at Payerne Airport operates with hydrogen fuel and emits only water vapor. 🔍 The aim is clean aviation, with contributions from BMW Group Designworks, Leonardo Aerostructures, and Sauber Group F1. The ignition demonstration showcased hydrogen’s potential, but key questions remain: scalability, hydrogen sourcing, and efficiency. ⚖️ Hydrogen-electric systems offer a promising path, but challenges in infrastructure, cost, and lifecycle emissions must be addressed. The aviation sector’s transition requires a holistic approach—energy supply, efficiency, and regulatory support all play a role. 🌍 Moving forward, it will be crucial to evaluate techno-economic feasibility and sustainability beyond direct emissions. Progress in hydrogen storage, fuel cell performance, and aircraft design will determine the viability of such solutions in commercial aviation. #Hydrogen #Aviation #SustainableEnergy #Decarbonization #HydrogenEconomy #EnergyTransition

One the best explanation and most informed explanations that I have heard on the route through pressurised hydogren through to liquid hydrogen. Well done to Cranfield Aerospace Solutions. Aviation is here to stay, we are not going to go back years in terms of reliance on surface transport. We are now part of connected world around which our entire economies rely. Protecting the planet has to be done with considered innovation, not sticking our head in the sand and acting like luddites.

Airbus is doing great things for our aviation community. Airbus’ ambition is to bring to market the world’s first hydrogen-powered commercial aircraft by 2035. The fully electric concept was revealed in December 2020. It is based on an electric propeller propulsion system powered by hydrogen fuel cells, which transform the hydrogen into electricity through a chemical reaction. Fun fact: Hydrogen (H) is the lightest chemical element on the periodic table. Reference: https://lnkd.in/eAZ7S68x
