Hello Cyber Security Safety Team, Chelsea McMahon has found a great article regarding Password Manager vulnerabilities. Actually the password managers are not necessarily the vulnerability. The Vulnerability comes from us moving too fast! Password managers are designed to be a great way to keep passwords safe. You are able to download free and pay versions. The vulnerability is twofold: 1. Bad Actors are “offering” a free version that is “TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE” and they are just gathering your login and password details in their evil application. 2. Password Managers also name their “AMAZING” products using names close to the names of legitimate password managers. The attached article talks more about the vulnerabilities and offers some way to stay Cyber Safe. The main message… Slow down and stay aware when working with your technology. The River Run Cyber Security Team wishes you and your team a Cyber Safe week! Paul #cybersecurityevangelist #cybersecurity #passwordmanager

This is why you should ONLY download and purchase apps from a trusted source. YES, the hackers were able to bypass the initial checks, and it was available. However, both Apple and Google employee hundreds of employees strictly for searching and reviewing apps that are available for download to ensure the apps are safe. LastPass Warns on Password App Discovered in Apple App Store... The fake app looks similar to the legitimate LastPass app in its branding, and it could be stealing users' credentials. LastPass is warning its users about a fraudulent app found on the Apple App Store — called "LassPass Password Manager." LastPass is a password manager application — a tool that allows users to create multiple secure passwords and store them all in one place, behind one strong master password. Though the fake app closely resembles the official LastPass app in terms of branding and interface, upon closer inspection, the app features warning signs, including misspellings within its descriptions. The fraudulent app also only has one rating, and lists Parvati Patel as the developer; the legitimate LastPass app, meanwhile, has 52,300 ratings and lists LogMeIn as the developer. Stay Alert and make sure your users are aware of what to look for when it comes to these types of scams. Goliath Cyber Security Group can help with a Cybersecurity Awareness program to help educate your users and what to look out for. #cybersecurity #cybersecurityawareness #fake #passwordmanager #phishing #cybereducation

Navigating the Evolving Landscape of Cyber Threats The digital world is in a constant state of flux, and the threats we face in the cyber realm have evolved dramatically. We’ve learned a lot from the past and it’s our job to stay relevant with cyber news and new technologies. Cyber security often falls to individuals being diligent in all digital spaces and not allowing themselves to be put at risk. It’s about being aware, being vigilant, and being safe. Let me share a recent experience. I received a friend request from a close friend on Facebook. It was their name, their photo, exactly as it always has been. Some individuals wouldn’t question why they’ve had a new Facebook friend request. Maybe their friend started a new account, maybe they locked themselves out of their original Facebook account. 🙄 But here’s the catch - cloned accounts and cloned websites or apps are becoming an everyday issue. This is not just a personal cybersecurity concern, but also a significant risk for businesses. Employees need to be aware of this. Just recently, a lookalike LastPass app was found on the Apple App Store. This is a stark reminder of how cyber threats are becoming more sophisticated and deceptive. So, what can we do? Stay informed, stay updated, and most importantly, stay secure. Stay safe!
